Has development slowed down for our device? Since lollipop got released, there hasn't been many new updates for existing roms or new roms. I know, if I want it, I should develop a rom myself. But, I've never been good at program languages so, I depend on the fine folks here on XDA. I appreciate all their efforts. But, again I ask, has development slowed?

Cache never wipes, just sits there like it's working topic

Noticed my Moto x was feeling kind if laggy all day so I went to wipe the cache. After about 15 minutes of sitting there with "wiping cache" on the screen with the little bars animating I finally reset it with the power button. I've never had it take this long before.

Now if I go back in and try it again it doesn't even say "wiping cache" it just had the Android guy and the little animated bars, and it never progresses.

Any ideas? Phone is still kind of laggy.

All working fine now HOWEVER got a one silly question, is it possible that the company that did it inserted into the device some kind of tracking device or some tools that could hack my phone/sim card etc? I know its silly but just wondering, and please be serious

Just Rooted and flashed CloudyG3 1.2 on my D851r and it seems like nothing changed topic

I just rooted, wiped, and flashed CloudyG3 1.2 for my D851r and it seems like i'm not even on a custom ROM. Is it supposed to feel like this? Where is all the power? I don't see any options for customizing my phone with different features. Where is the custom menu in settngs?

Moreover even though i have root access i cannot uninstall certain apps in the settings -> general -> apps. Some apps like LG Smartworld i can only disable but i cant uninstall them. I thought cloudy was supposed to be debloated, why does it include stuff like Music, and LG Smartworld, and QuickMemo+? I only chose to install google apps during the Aroma install, so why do these all still exist and how do i completely uninstall them? (not just disable).

[Q] Just want Xfinity app to work via Ethernet topic

Last summer I had my Fire TV rooted and set up with Xposed to fake Wifi access so that I could use my Xfinity app via ethernet. Previous to that I was using FOX-FI and my phone as a Wifi hotspot but Metropcs blocked the ability to do so.

All was well until the unit started turning itself off a few months ago. I was sent a replacement that I believe was a refurbishment and it NEVER updates (i.e. never updated to the Prime option on the left side of the menu) -- which would be great except I haven't been able to root it (most likely it's unrootable). Now I have a 3rd one and I just need to know how I can run my Xfinity TV GO app on it (after it's sideloaded) without having to use WIFI. Also, where is the list of serial numbers or whatever it is that allows one to know if the box can be rooted?

A few questions i just got the Fire TV, i want to be able to run a speed test i tried sideloading the official Speed Test app and it installed but didnt seem to work on the fire, any other apps i can use to do this?

What is the benefits of rooting this? i use to root awhile ago with my phones but since have stopped, whats the benefits for this one?

So i updated to lollipop last weekend flashed stock recovery did OTA but was extremely buggy so i factory reset installed OTA had issues with reading internal storage so i formatted the storage factory reset installed OTA now i have a smooth phone but I'm missing things that others have im missing the search bar from the recents menu, i dont get heads up notifications at all at any point, and i get a little stutter when removing apps from recents is it just me or is something people all over are experiencing?

Just Got my OPO Initial Questions & Concerns [PLEASE LOOK] topic

So, just received my new OPO yesterday in the mail. Immediately I unlocked it and rooted it. Then I went into doing some research about which ROM/kernel combination is the best on this forum. I don't know too much about flashing and all of that so I didn't want any ROMS that were too different from the vanilla (stock) lollipop look and feel. I've watched videos and flashed CM12 nightlies (including installing CyanDelta, to update the nightlies) and the AK kernel which a lot of people have been using. I have a couple questions for you and would appreciate it if you could respond to each of them stated bellow:

1. The camera on this ROM seems to be pretty poor. The stock camera app (not the google camera app) takes pictures but the quality is poor. I'm coming from an iphone 5 which had a worse spec'd camera but the performance was better. I'm guessing its the software behind IOS that made it good. But is there a ROM or something i could do to improve the camera's image quality? It looks good before taking it but after wards when i go back to look at the photo it comes out terribly blurry. I need to figure this out and see if its a defect in my unit or if its normal.

2. Which ROM/kernel do you suggest as something stable. I want one with good battery life but still gives me buttery smooth performance. I also want it as stock lollipop as possible. I'm currently running CM12 nightly (2/21) with AK kernel as stated before. And which kernel settings do you suggest?

3. I use WugFresh's bacon tool kit to flash roms and to root and everything and i was wondering if there was a way to have an app automatically install roms and kernels for me. I've heard of Titanium Backup but i'm not too familiar with its features. Can you suggest a program or app that would make the process simple and user friendly?

[Q] Android Jelly Bean 4.3 stocka usb connection to TV (just not windows) topic

Hi i opened this post because i have that problem and i cant solve it.
My device:
Huawei G630-U20, stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean B127.
When i connect my device to TV with via usb and i enable USB Mass Storage on my phone, my phonr unmounts sd card and i can only access internal storage. So i cant view images and video from sd card on TV.
I also have Allview viper v1 and it has kitkat. On it i can view staf from sd card on TV via usb when USB MASS STORAGE IS ENABLED.
So my quastion here is, how to enable sd card when i connect my Huawei G630 with android 4.3 Jelly Bean to TV via usb???

Just hate this white background in app drawer after the recent google now launcher update will there be ever an option not to have this white background. Also in moto x running 4.4.4 with the same google now launcher there is no white background in the app drawer.

This is NOT a how-to or anything. Don't try to follow in my footsteps of stupidity and brick your phone.

That being said...

XT 1060 (Verizon)

I have been running 4.4.4 for quite a while now. Right after JCase released sunshine for our phones. (I have an unlocked bootloader.)

I had it rooted, and tried out the 5.0 ROMs a while ago. Flashed back to stock to wait for the update when we heard it was coming "very soon". But tonight I got impatient and decided I was going to re-root and switch back to CM12. So, I opened Moto X Toolkit (love that tool) and installed TWRP. When I manually rebooted I forgot to boot into recovery. Don't know if that had anything to do with the ensuing problems or not, but after that, I couldn't get it to boot into recovery.

So, I flashed back to stock 4.4.4 again. Tried rebooting into stock recovery... no joy.
So off I go again... one more attempt to flash stock 4.4.4. This time, when it asked me if I wanted to reboot into bootloader or android, I tried to boot into android. Sadly I missed the "a" and typed "ndroid". The toolkit began doing something... looks like it was running the flash all over again. I let it do its thing, then very carefully typed "android" so I wouldnt screw it up again.

It rebooted perfectly, but once it was up and running, I noticed all of my icons were blue. I quickly jumped into the "about phone section and noticed it said "4.2.2".

This is not supposed to be possible, so at this point I was half panicking and half curious... so I decided to do an even more stupid thing and accept the updates.

I am now updated completely to 4.4.4. Zero issues... recovery works fine, radio is fine, wifi and BT are fine.


This leads me to two questions (Directed to developers)...

1) Is there a possibility this is repeatable?

2) My curiosity is about to get me into trouble... I have two more Moto X's that are 4.4.4. Locked BL. I would like to know what the worst case scenario is. I know there is a possibility of "bricking", but that term has not, for a long time, meant what it originally did. How badly "bricked" might it be? Bootloops? Chance of recovering by flashing stock firmware or RSD? Or truly bricked?

How about just the desktop ? topic

I have googled how to display just the desktop on gear VR and always come up with results/aps showing how to stream games to the headset. All I want is to display the desktop so i can launch whatever i want (normal youtube, websites etc) all while using the gear vr. Latency is not much of an issue with this i would not think.

Anyone doing this? and if so can you share how (aps etc) or if its already been documented can you point me in the right direction?

I just figured out that I left my Tablet screen turned on for like 7 hours on the same screen. The YouTube app was stuck and that's why the screen haven't auto turned off.

Is it any dangerous for the screen? Should I be worried? Just bought it yesterday :x
