[Q] [Help] Moto G [Motorola apps] [CyanogenMod] topic

I'm new here.
I have some questions about the CM rom on a Moto G (XT1032) and the Motorola apps.

1. Is there a way to completely erase any trace of CM from a Moto G?
2. My Moto G seems to have rests of CM and because of that I can't install any Motorola apps like camera, gallery, etc. Because it says my device isn't compatible

Hope someone can help me out :)

[Q] Move apps to external sd card in Redmi 1S topic

Good morning,

I have a question/doubt that perhaps some expert can answer me.

Redmi HM 1SW has a serious problem with moving apps from internal storage to external sd card.
I've found a solution, making the right partitions on the sd card (a FAT32 and a ext2), and using Link2SD ( and Link2SD Plus).

But, BEFORE this, I rooted my cell phone and installed also Super SU and TWRP Recovery...

My question is: was it necessary to do so? Or does the Link2SD (with the right partitions) method works without rooting?

Kind regards,

CPtolemy

LG 23A Lollipop 5.01 safe to disable apps topic

First, thank you to everyone who's shared work or development has helped us all. I'll name names later when I'm not on my phone. :o

Since 23A can't be rooted, or retain root from 12B via 10B, if you want to keep using it instead of downgrading to 12B the only option to debloat is to Disable stock apps through Androids interface.

There are additionally at least two pre-installed apps that can be totally uninstalled:

Farmville
&
iHeartRadio

iHateBloat! Uninstall those the normal way to uninstall Android apps if you don't want them.

If anyone notices any more, please post about it.

How to disable apps:

1. Go to settings by swiping down from the top of the screen and choosing the gear-wheel in the top right corner above the notification toggles.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the "Device" section of Settings, choose "Application manager". It's the second one from the end in that section, two up from the "Personal" section.

3. Swipe left three times to the "All" section.

4. You can click the three-dot menu at the top right and sort by Name or Size.

5. Click an app you hope to disable. Some apps don't let you disable them.

6. I chose "Force Stop", "Disable", "Clear data" and when necessary "Clear cache". Note that sometimes one of these options will take care of some or all of the rest, but definitely not always in my observation.

7. Press Back to get back to the apps list.

8. Repeat steps 5-7.

You can swipe left once more to see all the apps that you have Disabled.

Following are screenshots of apps that can be disabled without any trouble or rooting.

In name order:

In size order:

Please feel free to share your experiences disabling these and additional apps.

Thank you!

[Q] All user apps crash immediately as of this morning, Galaxy S Blaze 4G topic

Last weekend I flashed the most recent CM 11 version and the Pico GApps package (from here). The phone has worked perfectly since then, very fast, no issues at all.

This morning when I turned it on I immediately saw 'Android is Upgrading' and 'optimizing __ of 42 apps.' I have all auto-updates and syncs disabled, and this is the first time this has happened.

When the phone finished booting, it told me that Chrome and my email app and AV crashed. Opening any user app results in the app crashing immediately.

I tried rebooting, same result, same Upgrading message.

I rebooted to recovery and cleaned the cache and Dalvik cache. This time I see 'Android is Upgrading' and 'optimizing __ of 132 apps.' When it finished booting, same thing - a few apps crash immediately, all other user apps crash when opening.

What's happened to my phone? I'm new at this, it's getting frustrating. I don't know why it was upgrading anything to start with...

[Q] Won't update apps unless on wifi topic

Here's the deal. I have recently been forced into getting this note 3 through insurance claim, have been nexus user forever and I must say I was peeved. Though I will admit that this phone does have its benefits as well. Anyways, when I first started using this phone I was pleased with the speeds in my new area (i have moved) on 4G. I have been more than dissatisfied with the internet here as it is appallingly slower than anything I can remember from the past of my life. Anywhoo, deal is that I have an unlimited plan and don't care if i run 4G all the time on my phone. For the first while I didn't get onto WiFi till one day at work, suddenly updates happened all over the place. I tested this a few times, and sure enough I am unable to update or even download certain apps from the play store without being on WIFI. I know this is hilarious, but my Clash of Clan mates sure were unimpressed when I couldn't join a war. So I have been researching all over and trying hard to figure out what I can do. Google Play is set up to download over both data and WiFi connections. My Samsung settings? Well I can't seem to find any settings that would make a difference on that. I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out without avail. I have been coming to this forum without posting forever it seems because you guys cover everything so well that usually I can search and find the answer without too many problems. Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge!

Removing 170 system apps for fun and profit topic

Long time ago, in the mid-2000s, there was such a fabulous concept as "PDA". Unfortunately, Microsoft let it slip and the concept went downhill.

Now for me it was the idea of a device that is not a phone (hence the existence of a separate "smartphone") and that is rarely online. It's bigger than "phone" and you use it to do serious stuff, not reading Twitter and ranting on Facebook.

I understand this concept is not very popular these days but this thread is for those of you security paranoids who are not risking putting your precious data online at all. But even if you are not so extreme you can safely get rid of more than 100 apps, you'll just have to experiment a little given my lists here.

Below are the apps I have removed to make my Note Edge run as smooth as ever, with battery lasting days on average use. I have been experimenting with this, gathering info about each problematic app from the internets; details and links are included below where I could find them.

What is removed: cellular/phone/messages/Qualcomm support, Samsung-only sharing/device features (quick share, direct share, beacon, TV, battery sharing, etc.), location services, Google/Samsung stuff, Dropbox/Evernote/Flipboard/other bundled stuff, backup/sync/cloud, tracking/remote management/locking (it had lots of this stuff), wearable stuff, environment sound detecting, payment/checkout, Chrome/Chromecast, Play/Samsung stores (install apps offline by APK), Car Mode, private mode, Knox, printing, S Finder, S Voice, Emergency Mode, SIM support, weather, Safety info, wizard appearing when you hard-reset the device (so all settings are set to defaults, you can customize them later anyway), Smart Remote, talkback, default video player, editing and trimming.

What is kept: all legit core functionality: external SD card, Internet (for offline browsing), Wi-Fi (for emergency - but didn't try it working), Bluetooth, NFC, camera and photo studio, Edge panel (Cocktailbar) features, S Pen including direct input, voice recorder/other tools, Easy Mode including reduced screen and side panel, Night Clock, S Health, service menus (e.g. *#0*#), USB features including MTP/debugging/adb, most native Samsung apps like Gallery and S Planner that are good.

After using this unbloated version of Kitkat 4.4.4 all apps still work fine except for some games that need Google Services Framework (this one you can keep). I used this app to remove things.

Internal Storage showing blank in file explore apps on Lollipop topic

Has anyone else been receiving this plague? I keep rolling back to custom 4.4.4 sense lollipop has been buggy. I flashed stock lollipop firmware and ran the RUU and was successful, but has had it's issues. Had "Sense TV" has stopped working unexpectedly and the VVM not updating and just closing, had everything working including storage, just to take a crap on me just doing a simple reboot. The couple times i had TV app working, i had internal storage showing more than DCIM and MEDIA, but it ends up crashing on reboots, or on fresh flashing with device wiped

Apps Cannot Access Internal Memory after TWRP Recover topic

Background:
Trying out ROMs here and there, making backups along the way in TWRP. Turn out I had my favorite ROM from the start, so clean all the slates and performed a restore to Hybrid X Series 1.07. Everything is as it was...almost.
Apps are complaining about not being able to download to internal memory, there not being enough space, etc (there's plenty). Switching the download directory of these apps to the extSdCard is my current workaround.

What I've tried:
Fix Permissions from TWRP
Repair partition /data from TWRP using e2fsck
recursive busybox chown to 1001 on /data/media
restorecon on /data/media/0
This Fix Script Also found a similar flashable ZIP which did the same thing, but to no avail

None of these seem to have any effect. Also, trying to change permissions from Root Browser works on /sdcard, but not on any subfolders. Error returned is "Changing permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes."

Any thoughts

One tap to reboot closes all apps less then 1 mb topic

Goto play store and type fast reboot
Quickly “reboot” your phone to free up memory! Does NOT require root!

TRY THE PRO VERSION, WHICH COMES WITH THE OPTION TO AUTOMATICALLY PERFORM FAST REBOOTS AND LETS YOU MANUALLY EXCLUDE APPS!

Simulates a reboot by closing/restarting all core and user processes and thus frees up memory. Your phone should be much snappier after using Fast Reboot.

DOES NOT ACTUALLY REBOOT YOUR PHONE, only the apps & processes. Does NOT require

[APP][2.3+] Basic Google Apps! topic

>> Admins please move this thread if it's in the wrong place. <<
This thread is for you if you flashed a custom ROM and the Google play store and services aren't installed. Please note that this is a fail safe method for getting Play and Play Services if PA Gapps doesn't work for you. If PA Gapps doesn't work please try Cyanogenmod gapps. For Cyanogenmod, CM 12 is for 5.0+ and CM 11 is for 4.4.x.

Also, with Cyanogenmod "only apps which are required to provide the basic Google frameworks are supplied to reduce the download size." You simply need to push the package via ADB and then boot into recovery and install the zip. You can also download the zip directly to your phone.

If neither of the methods above work for your Gapps, then this is where I come in. If your flashed ROM is API 9 (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) or above, this method should work. It also requires some sort of data connection like WiFi or cellular data. Also go to Settings > Security and check "Unknown sources." to allow installation of APKs from sources other than Google Play. You can turn this off when we're done. Directly on your device, first download Google Play Services. Now go to your download manager on your phone. If your phone doesn't have one, tap on the notification. Once that's installed, install Google Play. You can also go here to make sure that you get the lastest version of Google Play, but I'll do my best to update it myself.

Once you have both Google Play and Google Play Services installed, you can go about your app downloading and be on your merry way. :)

a way to save your arrangement of apps on home screen? topic

Hi, is there a way to save your app placements on your homescreen so that when you do a clean wipe and a fresh install of a rom everything will be in the same place? So basically the applications will get moved to their folders or places on the screen without having to move them around manually after a fresh install. Thanks

[Q] Backing up Apps topic

If I was wanting to backup just apps and their data to restore after fliashing a new rom, what would I use? And is it even possible?

Rooted apps stopped functioning after flashing bypass pie.zip topic

I'm a rooted N5 user. As Diskfigger pro wasn't getting root privileges, I came to know about "bypass pie". I flashed that zip with twrp and I'm facing issues now.

Most rooted apps not functioning. Like.. When I open superSU, circle keeps circling and apps are not showing.
When I open lucky patcher and choose " open meny for patches", same thing happens.
Is there any way I can remove the zip I installed, so that my rooted apps works like before?
