[Q] Kindle Fire HD TWRP Backup restore Help topic

Hey guys,
I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7" (Tate) and installed a second boot loader and TWRP recovery. I installed CM11 but actually preferred the Amazon Fire OS. I tried to restore my backup from TWRP recovery, but I think it restored the boot partition badly. It now just flashes the Orange kindle fire logo, then reboots and does the same thing again and reboots etc. etc. Is there a way I can restore a Stock Fire Os Rom from my PC now or get into fastboot and re flash the boot loader (The files are in the downloads folder)
Thanks!

[Q] Restore not found on TWRP topic

On my Nexus 5, im running stock kitkat until i flashed the paranoid android 5.0.2
after playing with it for some time , i decided to revert back to kitkat and ive made a nandroid backup before using TWRP
the problem is i cant find my backup on TWRP recovery.
i installed es file explorer and found out that my storage is not in the default format(?). It is in /sdcard/0 when usually it would be just /sdcard.
how do i restore my backup/ make it visible in twrp restore.
help is much appreciated :)

Trouble flashing TWRP topic

Hello everybody. I'm having some problems flashing TWRP after unlocking the bootloader.

First of all, after unlocking the BL, I have flashed back the stock logo using

Code:

fastboot flash logo logo.bin

Then I tried flashing TWRP.

Code:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Everything is successful, but booting to recovery from bootloader turns the phone off, and using

Code:

adb reboot recovery

brings about a 'dead android' screen with 'No command' written below it. I had to force reboot.

The phone itself works fine, and I was able to boot to TWRP, using the same .img file,

Code:

fastboot boot recovery.img

, and flash SU and whatever.

I don't really have a clue about what's going on here, can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance :)

twrp problem topic

When trying to backup my current ROM (slimkat 9.0) in twrp I cannot see my internal storage. Twrp just lists 0mb. Using twrp 2.7.0 on lg g2 801. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

[Q] TWRP and HBOOT topic

I have not been able to update to TWRP 2.8.5.0 from 2.8.0.3, every time I end up hanging in entering recovering in the white boot screen. I have tried fastboot and the RUU method, I always end up reinstalling the 2.8.0.3 TWRP to get recovery back. I checked the firmware everything is up to date but hboot currently on 16 latest is 19. Question could my hboot being out of date cause the update problem and can I just flash the hboot alone?

[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.8.5.0 for Shield Portable topic

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Tablet look:

INSTRUCTIONS:
Boot into fastboot by holding back and home when powering on the Shield.
Connect Shield to a computer via USB.
Execute 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' from a command line.

DOWNLOAD:
Android File Host

BUGS:
Ask in this thread. It's probably my fault and not upstreams.

KNOWN PROBLEMS:
This is build from Tassadars multirom branch. This is because he has code to rotate the display that isn't upstream.
However, I disabled multirom because I haven't quite got it to work yet. The button is still there, but it does nothing.

SOURCE CODE:
https://github.com/Tegra4/android_de...e/cm-12.0-mrom

SPECIAL MENTION:
Bogdacutu for rm-wrapper. Originally created to get touch working for the Shield Tablet and Ubuntu, it was also able to be used for TWRP. And the setup for the Portable is so similar that the program was able to be used here as well.

[q] moto g without an os after twrp recovery topic

Sorry if I'm doing something wrong here, I've just made an account now because I'm in need of drastic help. I was trying to install CyanogenMod on my Moto G 1st generation. While it was on its first boot, it froze or something, so I did what the internet suggested and did a reset for everything. Then, obviously, when I tried to install CM12 again, I couldn't because it wasn't on the internal storage, and neither was the stock OS. So now all I can do is just sort of.. be on TWRP Recovery. I'm really worried about this, and all googling the question did was confuse me, so please, please, please can someone sum up what I need to do with links, just to either get CM12 back on internal storage, or recover stock. Thank you!

[RECOVERY][tornado_348] TWRP 2.8.5.0 touch recovery [2015-02-27] topic

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Phone look:

Tablet look:

CHANGELOG for 2.8.5.0:

-Scale the GUI - TWRP can read the theme's resolution and scale it up or down to fit the theme to your screen's resolution
-Backups can now be cancelled while the backup is in progress (does not include restore because we don't want to leave your device in a bad state)
-Improve thread handling and move input handling into the main rendering thread to improve stability
-Make MTP work even if unplugged and plugged back in
-Unify scrollable list code and make kinetic scrolling feel more natural
-Fix handling of mapped zip files for OTA updates (CM12 updater)
-USB keyboards should now work on all devices that support USB host mode via a USB OTG cable
-Other small fixes and improvements

CHANGELOG for 2.8.4.0:

-Add flashing of boot and recovery images via the TWRP GUI (Find the Images button on the Install page)
-Fix some MTP related crashes and bugs
-Eliminate TWRP toggling USB IDs during boot if MTP is enabled
-Fix various adb sideload issues
-Improve threading of actions
-Eliminate separate thread for screen timeout
-Update libblkid to 2.25.0
-Use power button as back button on watch themes for easier navigation
-Add mutex locking to data manager
-Improve custom theme handling on encrypted devices
-Allow the stock theme to be offset by build flags so we can center a lower res theme on a higher res screen especially for watches with round screens

CHANGELOG for 2.8.3.0:

-MTP will now tell the host PC that storage is removed instead of disabling MTP completely
-MTP will now report the correct max file size based on the file system in use to the host PC (may fix transfer of large files)
-Update and improve fix permissions and make fixing contexts optional
-Update SuperSU in TWRP to 2.40 and update install process
-Make TWRP work properly on AArch64 (Nexus 9 is now built in true 64-bit binaries and libraries)
-Attempt to set correct permissions and contexts on all files placed in storage so backups will show in Android
-Fix kernel panic during MTP start on some devices
-Support unicode fonts on devices with True Type Font support
-Fix slider value not showing sometimes (vibration settings page)
-Toggle MTP off during adb sideload to set correct USB IDs
-Reduce library requirements for 5.0 L decrypt
-Other minor fixes and improvements

Note: Starting with TWRP 2.8.2.0 and higher, adb sideload uses a new sideload method originally implemented in AOSP recovery. You will need the latest adb binaries to use sideload in these newer versions of TWRP. The version required is 1.0.32. You can find the version by running "adb version" on your computer. The new sideload feature no longer stores the zip on your device. Instead, a fuse file system is created in RAM and the zip is streamed from your computer. This puts less wear and tear on storage and ensures that large zips will not fill up all of your RAM. The sideload may spit an error on your PC side, but the zip should install just fine on your device.

CHANGELOG for 2.8.2.0:
-Pull in all changes from Android 5.0 lollipop into TWRP
-Add decrypt support for Android 5.0 lollipop encrypted partitions including automatic decrypt when the default_password is in use
-Revert some changes to exFAT that were breaking exFAT support on some devices
-Other minor fixes and updates

Note: At this time we do not have a GUI representation for pattern unlock. You can still decrypt patterns though by translating the pattern dots to numbers. The pattern dots correspond to numbers in the following pattern:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

So an upper-case L would translate to a password of 14789 entered on the keyboard. Eventually we plan to add a proper pattern unlock to TWRP but it is a relatively low priority at this point.

[recovery][fota] Z3 TWRP 2.8.5.0 topic

Simply put, this is the latest TWRP (with F2FS, without multirom - sorry).
(Someone asked for the latest one in another thread)

https://www.mediafire.com/?mj5885q1x5lamzv

If you head over to AndroPlus' thread and download his latest kernel (as of writing, that is Z3_AndroPlusKernel_F2FS_v26a.zip) you could format /system and /cache as F2FS and it will boot and run fine, /data will however, sadly, not format or work as F2FS. But /system and /cache does.

Apps Cannot Access Internal Memory after TWRP Recover topic

Background:
Trying out ROMs here and there, making backups along the way in TWRP. Turn out I had my favorite ROM from the start, so clean all the slates and performed a restore to Hybrid X Series 1.07. Everything is as it was...almost.
Apps are complaining about not being able to download to internal memory, there not being enough space, etc (there's plenty). Switching the download directory of these apps to the extSdCard is my current workaround.

What I've tried:
Fix Permissions from TWRP
Repair partition /data from TWRP using e2fsck
recursive busybox chown to 1001 on /data/media
restorecon on /data/media/0
This Fix Script Also found a similar flashable ZIP which did the same thing, but to no avail

None of these seem to have any effect. Also, trying to change permissions from Root Browser works on /sdcard, but not on any subfolders. Error returned is "Changing permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes."

Any thoughts

Help me easily root and install TWRP, I have fast boot cable! topic

[Q] TWRP in a start-loop on my TF700 topic

With the latest version of TWRP (2.8.5.0) I installed that zombi 5.02 rom a few days ago. It was running VERY slow, so I went back into TWRP a few hours ago and figured I would clean up the device and then re-install the rom.

So I used TWRP to wipe the device clean (I selected every partition to wipe, which I suspect is what the problem is). After doing this, I ran the install of the rom which seemed to run fine (although oddly, it seemed to install too fast, as opposed to when I installed it before).

Once I rebooted the device, I saw a quick message about a missing partition, and then it booted into TWRP recovery. but here is where the problem started. TWRP loads as far as you see the blue curtain background with test "teamwin" and then the screen clears for a sec, and then the blue curtain background appears again with the "teamwin" text.

This repeats forever. I can't get it to stop doing this.

I booted into fastboot, and via adb I re-installed the 2.8.5.0 twrp blob file. No errors during the install at all, however after rebooting the device, I am having the exact same issue.

I've tried re-installing twrp 3 times this way, but no matter what I do, I cannot get twrp to get out of this boot cycle.

It is odd that I can install twrp via adb over and over, yet it still has the same problem as before.

Even if i messed up by wiping every partition, why would the TWRP install succeeed, yet the program not run?

Anybody have an idea as to what I can do in order to get twrp back up and running? And if I do, is there something else I need to do to get all the partitions back up, or in theory will installing a rom re-create everything as needed?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
