[Q] Note 3 Reboot Issue topic

Surely someone is aware of this issue?

Can you tell me if there are any known reboot issues with a stock Note 3 Verizon device? Mine has been re-booting randomly since I've had it, which is only since January of this year.. I purchased it at Best Buy. I had the Samsung rep at Best Buy re-flash it and I've also previously done a factory reset. Still having the same issue. Very frustrating.

[Q] Why does google update always force me to reboot? topic

The app that calls itself just "google" sometime (like today) wants to apply an update. Every time that happens, I first get a crash from "One More Clock", then the update finishes, then when I exit the play store, the launcher also appears to have crashed. I always have to power cycle the Nexus 5 to get it back (which works fine, but is irritating). Anyone know why this update always crashes the phone? Does anyone else have this problem?

I get the same "google" update on my Nexus 7 (which also runs One More Clock) and there are no problems. Only the Nexus 5 has this mysterious behavior.

[MOD][NABI2] 4 Way Reboot Menu Nabi2 KK 4.4 topic

4 - Way Reboot Menu for Nabi2 KK 4.4

Well it's that time again after getting a needed update for our tablets. This is the extended Reboot Menu only and not a "Power Menu". I do not recommend flashing to Custom Roms as the ROMs may contain special permissions/policies ( if added ) that the Rom Developer may have implemented or even may be require so the Custom Rom may run or function properly. None are known for the Nabi2 ATM so I guess we are safe LOL.

Unlike the previous version that went through the Power Button menu, this one has a dedicated Reboot Button eliminating the extra
"Power Off "at the bottom of the Reboot Menu going through the Power Button menu.

The Extended Reboot Menu Includes:

REBOOT
( Normal Complete Reboot)

HOT BOOT
( Quick Reboot for restarting the Android Shell only )

BOOTLOADER ( Again Not Working Correctly, will look into this one )
(Bootload Mode)

RECOVERY
( Restarts phone/tablet to your Recovery )

By YOU, the USER, flashing this file or manually pasting to modify your Android System, YOU understand and know what YOU are
doing. I nor anyone will be held liable nor responsible for YOUR doing if your phone bricks. As always, as is suggested by many and
myself, please make sure you perform a complete

NANDROID BACKUP

before flashing and/or modifying your OS or the mentioned stock .jar file. I also suggest YOU keep a separate copy of the stock .jar file
handy, like in your External SDcard, if the phone decides not to boot up. Knowing this, YOU assume all responsibility for what happens
as YOU, the USER, know and comprehend what YOU are doing and understand the consequences or severity of damages that can be
brought to your device by flashing or modifying your OS incorrectly.

YOU Have Been Warned !!

================================================== ================================================== =====

What's Needed / Recommended:

Rooted Device ( to extract the needed files Manually for backup )
Custom Recovery ( TWRP for Flashing the ZIP and/or using the File Manager or a Custom Aroma File Manager)
If you can do it via ADB Commands then all power to you.....

I provided BOTH , the stock NABI2 ( Stock NABI2 JAR ) and modded NABI2 .jar ( android.policy.jar ) files and
will make a flashable zip ( coming soon ) below.

What To Do:

You have two choices on installing the .jar file. You can either Flash the ZIP in TWRP ( which at the moment is not available ) or manually copy & paste or push the .jar file to system/framework/. If you decide to do this manually, you will then need to set the file permissions to the modified android.policy.jar file to 0644. Before manually pasting the file in the framework folder, you can rename the stock android.policy.jar file with " .bak " ( ex. android.policy.jar.bak ) at the end so you don't have to delete it from the framework folder if you so choose. Now using TWRP you can either use the built in File Manager and set permissions via the terminal with chmod commands or Install/Flash the Aroma File Manager in recovery to use like a simple File manager where you can hold down on the file to get a popup window to copy/paste or set permissions manually.

Words of caution.....

if you attempt to do this manually and are still actively booted in your Android OS while modifying or deleting the .jar file, there is the highest probability that your tablet will immediately reboot and you will not be able to boot up the OS again and remain stuck on the Nabi boot screen as the android.policy.jar is no longer visible to your OS. This is why you need to do this before booting up like in recovery.

One tap to reboot closes all apps less then 1 mb topic

Goto play store and type fast reboot
Quickly “reboot” your phone to free up memory! Does NOT require root!

TRY THE PRO VERSION, WHICH COMES WITH THE OPTION TO AUTOMATICALLY PERFORM FAST REBOOTS AND LETS YOU MANUALLY EXCLUDE APPS!

Simulates a reboot by closing/restarting all core and user processes and thus frees up memory. Your phone should be much snappier after using Fast Reboot.

DOES NOT ACTUALLY REBOOT YOUR PHONE, only the apps & processes. Does NOT require

root.

[Troubleshooting]No more random Freezes & Reboot topic

Many of you (and I) experienced random freezes & reboots but found no solutions, even after flashing so many different ROMs.
Hopefully I've found the cause & the SOLUTION.

I've been flashing custom ROM from the first time I own a gadget but recently after I flash Gnabo 8 I experienced something strange: Random Freezes & Reboots.
In my case, random reboots occur after 31 hours of usage.
After I analyzed the problem I concluded that the cause is rogue apps running in the background & hogging the CPU to an extend that the device can't be used anymore.
Then the freezes & reboots occur.
After 1 month of analyzing further, I found 3 processes in my N8000 that become the Prime Suspects:
  1. System Server

  2. dhd_dcp

  3. kswapd0

I consulted to Andi (Lord Boeffla) & Mikyno about this before eliminating the PRIME SUSPECTS to just 1 rogue app.
My knowledge in Linux + Google come handy in this matter & concluded that kswapd0 is the cause(?)
kswapd0 is responsible for creating swap file a.k.a virtual memory in case the real RAM is not enough.
In Linux, there is a separate partition that is dedicated for virtual memory a.k.a swap partition but in android, specially our N80XX, I can't find any swap partition.

How come kswapd0 active & consume so much CPU time & causing freezes+reboots where there is no swap partition?

Further researches bring me these information:
  • In my current ROM (ARHD 21.0) my sysctl.conf is empty, BUT...

  • using Android Tuner, I find that vm.swappiness is 130!!
vm.swappiness is a setting value to control kswapd0 on when to write the RAM content into disk/internal memory.
vm.swappiness=0 is to tell to avoid writing to disk/internal memory as much as possible.
vm.swappiness=100 is to tell to write to disk/internal memory as much as possible (avoiding RAM).

I don't know how the sysctl.conf is empty but the vm.swappiness=130 is set, but I modified it to vm.swappiness=0.
Then I reboot my N8000.

Now my N8000 is running without incidents for 3 days & 20 hours straight.
I hope this is the final solution I wanted & I also hope that this information can help others with the same problem too.

Phone forgets wifi networks after reboot on BOB7 topic

Hi!

I just flashed the new BOB7 firmware and after every reboot the phone forgets all saved wifi networks. I've searched these forums and on google but I haven't found any solution to my problem.

These are the things I've tried so far:

Flash stock via Odin and with no additional apps installed:
Complete factory reset, google account sign in, restore data. Connect to network - after reboot network is gone
Complete factory reset, google account sign in, no data restore. Connect to network - after reboot network is gone
Complete factory reset, no google account sign in (or any other accounts for that matter). Connect to network - after reboot network is gone

I've tried the same steps with ALEXNDR's rom but the result is the same. I then tried flashing Temasek's AOSP ROM and had no problems whatsoever with the network.

I've tried opening the wpa_supplicant.conf file in data/misc/wifi and after having connected to my home network all network details such as SSID and psk show up. When I reboot and look at the file again there are no networks listed

Can anyone help explain what's going on?

Peter :)

3rd Party App Accounts deleted after reboot! topic

Hello guys!

Yesterday I faced a really new and weird issue with my phone. I was facing the infamous memory leak bug and the phone was acting a bit wonky. So i promptly restarted the phone to deal with it.

After the restart i found that all the accounts (in Settings>>Accounts) had disappeared. Only the google account was visible. 3rd party apps accounts like whatsapp, pushbullet, etc. could not be seen there at all!

When i opened whatsapp and performed a refresh in new contacts only then was I able to see it in Settings>>Accounts. Though I had to login again in Pushbullet!

Has anyone faced such an issue? I performed a factory reset after this but thought of brining this issue forward on the forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Sent from my XT1092

Unusual reboot loop (device will boot up) topic

Problem occur in stock fw(3.2.4), Nexus 2.01 and even after rollback to .3.1.0

My HDX when lying on the table goes on and off every minute(clock resets to 0:00 after each reboot), but when I start to use it, it's working fine without auto reboot...
At first when I flashed Nexus everything was ok but then I was busy and haven't used my tab for few weeks and now I have this annoying problem.
Because of this battery goes low very fast.

Is this hardware or software problem?

Hope for your help.

[Q] Backup failed, can't reboot topic

I've just attempted to do a Nandroid backup through TWRP but during the System backup my phone rebooted itself and now it's stuck on the Samsung logo. Is there any way to save it or am I going to have to wipe it and start over?
