Turn off the phone topic

After I turn off and back on the phone the Nexus 6 always seems to find Google Apps that need to be updated.
Should I turn on and off the device more often than I have been?

I read think I read Google said there maybe memory leaks and they are developing 5.1?
Maybe the device gets buggy if left on too long?
