True Silent Mode for Lollipop
I proudly present, my first Xposed module: True Silent Mode for Lollipop :fingers-crossed:
This module will restore the good old silent mode from Kitkat where you can press VolDown another time after reaching vibration mode.
New notifications won't make a sound or vibrate but still show the LED.
Ever since the release of Android 5.0 I've been terribly annoyed by the lack of a true silent mode in Lollipop.
And it seems I'm not the only one, users are raging here at xda, at reddit, at Google's AOSP issue tracker and on various other places of the web.
Quite quickly after the 5.0 release rumors started spreading that Google will bring back the silent mode for Android 5.1.
As always Google didn't comment on them, but it seemed plausible after all that demand.
But with the launch of Xposed for Lollipop thanks to the fabulous @rovo89 and new rumors that 5.1 will not include the new (or should I say old?) silent mode I decided to take things into my own hands now.
This is my first Xposed module and in my tests everything works as intended on my Nexus 5 with the Stock 5.0.1 ROM, but I'll flag it as beta for now.
If you encounter any bug attach a logcat to your bugreport or there is nothing I can do for you.
Attention:
I wrote this module for AOSP-based ROMs, it should work on all Nexus devices and Google Play Edition phones.
There's a good chance that it breaks if some vendors or did change basic internal android functions (Samsung, LG etc.).
Additionally it could conflict with custom roms like Cyanogenmod or ParanoidAndroid, but here I could check the source to make it compatible quite easily.
Please note that there isn't a statusbar symbol to indicate the silent mode, yet.
Currently the only visible indication will be that the volume slider is in disabled state for silent mode (see screenshot).
This is based on Google's design: Volume: Remove silent mode icon
I'm planning to add some more graphical visualizations in future versions, for now I wanted to focus on a quick release so other people can take advantage of the functionality rather than having to wait for some eye candy to arrive.
