[Q] More Storage Issues topic

I still have yet to fix my issue with storage. For some reason I have no Phone storage left, but almost all of my SD card storage is still empty. I thought that pictures and stuff were supposed to be stored on SD card.. or am I wrong??
Well that is not my major issue at the moment. I am actually having a problem with "write-protection"
I plugged my phone into my PC so that I can move my pictures and videos and stuff over to my SD card...
So i put my device USB Connection as a "camera (PTP)"
I found my photos, moved them to the SD card... and I wanted to delete them from the Phone Storage and when I try to delete a folder or file or anything from Phone Storage, it says "can not delete, the storage is write-protected"...
I have heard of it doing this when trying to delete from SD card... but why is m y phone saying that when I am trying to delete form the Phone Storage??
Can someone please help me out with this? I would appreciate it.. Thanks Guys!!

[Troubleshooting]No more random Freezes & Reboot topic

Many of you (and I) experienced random freezes & reboots but found no solutions, even after flashing so many different ROMs.
Hopefully I've found the cause & the SOLUTION.

I've been flashing custom ROM from the first time I own a gadget but recently after I flash Gnabo 8 I experienced something strange: Random Freezes & Reboots.
In my case, random reboots occur after 31 hours of usage.
After I analyzed the problem I concluded that the cause is rogue apps running in the background & hogging the CPU to an extend that the device can't be used anymore.
Then the freezes & reboots occur.
After 1 month of analyzing further, I found 3 processes in my N8000 that become the Prime Suspects:
  1. System Server

  2. dhd_dcp

  3. kswapd0

I consulted to Andi (Lord Boeffla) & Mikyno about this before eliminating the PRIME SUSPECTS to just 1 rogue app.
My knowledge in Linux + Google come handy in this matter & concluded that kswapd0 is the cause(?)
kswapd0 is responsible for creating swap file a.k.a virtual memory in case the real RAM is not enough.
In Linux, there is a separate partition that is dedicated for virtual memory a.k.a swap partition but in android, specially our N80XX, I can't find any swap partition.

How come kswapd0 active & consume so much CPU time & causing freezes+reboots where there is no swap partition?

Further researches bring me these information:
  • In my current ROM (ARHD 21.0) my sysctl.conf is empty, BUT...

  • using Android Tuner, I find that vm.swappiness is 130!!
vm.swappiness is a setting value to control kswapd0 on when to write the RAM content into disk/internal memory.
vm.swappiness=0 is to tell to avoid writing to disk/internal memory as much as possible.
vm.swappiness=100 is to tell to write to disk/internal memory as much as possible (avoiding RAM).

I don't know how the sysctl.conf is empty but the vm.swappiness=130 is set, but I modified it to vm.swappiness=0.
Then I reboot my N8000.

Now my N8000 is running without incidents for 3 days & 20 hours straight.
I hope this is the final solution I wanted & I also hope that this information can help others with the same problem too.

[HELP] S2 gt-i9100: No SIM,IMEI....and more. topic

First of all, thanks for your time. Here im going to try to explain my problem the best possible to try to find a solution without sending it to techincal service.

After reboot my device it stopped detecting SIM card, and the IMEI was null when typing *#06#. I never touched the android operating system even to update it, was the stock ROM. I entered this 'world' yesterday cause of need, so i might being telling you incoherent things, that and my english is bad, so sorry in advice.

Info about my device:

-Android Version: 2.3.5
-Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKJ3-CL647431 root@DELL82#2
-Compilation Number: GINGERBREAD.BGKJ3
-Model Number: GT-I9100

What i have tried?:

-To root my device with this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...2#post14283342.
Wanted to root to try to use GSII_Repair. Root worked but kept getting problem with GSII_Repair, the 3 steps: program kept telling me i needed to fix my BusyBox(Which is installed). Also wanted to try to flash with the oficial ROM 2.3.5 again but didnt find any link alive to download it.
- Factory data reset (Ended with worse situation, cause cant use google play or concnet to wifi)
-Tried with the 9 steps guide in this forum to recover the IMEI, but cant delete 'efs' folder cause 'the data system is only for reading', was using root explorer. (didnt check a lot in the comments cause no time)

Curious thing is my efs folder is there and i think it got all inside, i did a zip file (with root explorer) and saved it to my pc. All the apps im using on my device come from my pc cause i cant use wifi nor google play aka market.

I might be forgetting things, so i will try to update this post even if we find a solution. Thanks again for your time.

Hacking the battery voltage thresholds, and more... topic

Hello,

Well, the title says it all.
I've been operating a Moto G for 2 weeks and half now (KitKat 4.4.4); migrated from a venerable yet robust BB Bold 9900.
The experience, overall, has been positive, though Android's multitasking/memory management seems INFERIOR to the one implemented in that old 9900.
It got really pissed off after the browser dumped my posting form... c'mon, just for switching tabs/apps to check a dictionary? FFS!!! (browser pages reload from wherever the hell data is “stored” -cough, cough-, SLOWER than a snail...) ¡FAILURE!

Well, back on topic.
I've observed my Android phone default battery voltage thresholds are 3'4 and 4'2 V. I'd like to be able to, at least, tweak these values. Software managed (even profiled) on-the-fly adjustment of the full load voltage would be ideal. :D
The “low-battery” popup window warning is a cancer and deserves to be eradicated.
Tweaking the power profiles to allow the phone to use more power in the benefit of a more desktop computer-like experience would also be of interest to me, at least when the phone is plugged, of course! :cowboy:
My phone is unrooted yet, but I'm planning on doing it after my Lollipop OTA upgrade, which looks inminent.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers.

[Q] Possible of privacy guard using more battery than apps denied by it. topic

Hello everyone. We all know about the built-in privacy guard in CM11S, CM12 or roms based on these for our devices. If you don't know then I would like to mention that it is an app which helps in managing permissions for apps like which app is allowed to wake up or keep awake the device, which app can acess our contacts, etc.
There are a number of threads on xda about an Android OS battery drain issue and the fix for it is denying wake permission for it from privacy guard. I didn't have the Android OS issue and rguarly got around 5hours of SOT but still I did the denying wake permissions thing. It made a small difference and my SOT improved (I know SOT is not a perfect measurement of battery stats but I am just using it for the sake of giving you an idea). I then went forward and denied permissions for most user apps installed on my device as per my requirement (without breaking functionality). Now I have the privacy guard message active for most apps I use and I have seen a fall in my battery life to 5hours SOT per charge and now I have even started getting android OS on the top few in stats. No new apps have been installed during the course of the test.
My question now is that is it possible that the privacy guard now remains active for most apps trying to block it from accessing whatever permissions I have disabled for it and in turn eating up more battery than all these apps combined used to? I am obviously going to do my own tests by resetting privacy guard to default too but I thought of asking fellow XDAians too about what they think about this.

[DEV] More AOSP ROMs topic

Hi would port one or two three AOSP ROMs like pacman or aokp to this great phone. I have it too but aren't in the mood of unlocking the boot loader without having the possibility to relock it and would need somebody to try the Rom(s).

What would be the roms people would like the most?

Getting more than 10mbps via ethernet on NP topic

I bought a cheap straight-connector OTG cable from Amazon and when I hook up my USB ethernet adapter I only get 10mbps. The adapter is definitely a 10/100 adapter, but I am not sure if it is the OTG cable or the adapter causing the problems. I am inclined to believe it is the OTG cable since the ethernet drivers are pretty standard. If you have a OTG + ethernet adapter getting 100mbps, do you mind posting what you have? Currently my wirelss AC outperforms ethernet because of this handshake issue.

Do you get more or less performance with Lollipop? topic

I tried two ROMs, CM12 by Temasek and CM12 by Archi. Both weren't fast as Kitkat for me. I was using boeffla kernel with battery saving presets (1ghz CPU, underclock GPU, and both undervolt). This is what I use on Kitkat too but it performed better. Can you guys give me your views that how you feel it performs and if you thinks its better than Kitkat, list me your kernel and ROM.

And my main problem is xposed modules. One is gravity box and other is hack connectivity services and last one my favorite is greenify. I use gravity box to turn on flash light on lock screen by holding home button. I also use it to skip songs by volume keys but I think its possible in LP without modules. I use it for other purposes too but I want any alternatives for my most used favorite functions. I use hack connectivity services module to do reverse tethering and use all apps. Any alternative for that too? You can ignore greenify.

Another major issue is that when I restored apps from Ti backup, most of them didn't worked. I think its related with runtime? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!
