[Q] D6633 radio / CM12 topic

Hi guys,

as some of you migh be aware, CM12 doesn't have radio on z3 dual's (d6633) - that is, after patching the .zip with [[ || getprop("ro.product.device") == "leo" ]]

I have attempted to copy over all the ril things I could find in /system from the stock 23.0.1.F.0.96 ROM - to no effect.

The I looked in the initrd and found the following:
init.rc

Code:

service ril-daemon /system/bin/rild
    class main
    socket rild stream 660 root radio
    socket rild-debug stream 660 radio system
    user root
    group radio cache inet misc audio log qcom_diag

init.qcom.rc

Code:

service ril-daemon1 /system/bin/rild -c 1
    class main
    socket rild1 stream 660 root radio
    socket rild-debug1 stream 660 radio system
    user root
    disabled
    group radio cache inet misc audio sdcard_r sdcard_rw diag qcom_diag log

service ril-daemon2 /system/bin/rild -c 2
    class main
    socket rild2 stream 660 root radio
    socket rild-debug2 stream 660 radio system
    user root
    disabled
    group radio cache inet misc audio sdcard_r sdcard_rw diag qcom_diag log

init.class_main.sh

Code:

#
# start ril-daemon only for targets on which radio is present
#
baseband=`getprop ro.baseband`
netmgr=`getprop ro.use_data_netmgrd`
sgltecsfb=`getprop persist.radio.sglte_csfb`

case "$baseband" in
    "apq")
    setprop ro.radio.noril yes
    stop ril-daemon
esac

case "$baseband" in
    "msm" | "csfb" | "svlte2a" | "mdm" | "sglte" | "sglte2" | "dsda2" | "unknown")
    start qmuxd
    case "$baseband" in
        "svlte2a" | "csfb")
          start qmiproxy
        ;;
        "sglte" | "sglte2" )
          if [ "x$sgltecsfb" != "xtrue" ]; then
              start qmiproxy
          else
              setprop persist.radio.voice.modem.index 0
          fi
        ;;
        "dsda2")
          setprop persist.radio.multisim.config dsda
    esac

    multisim=`getprop persist.radio.multisim.config`

    if [ "$multisim" = "dsds" ] || [ "$multisim" = "dsda" ]; then
        stop ril-daemon
        start ril-daemon
        start ril-daemon1
    elif [ "$multisim" = "tsts" ]; then
        stop ril-daemon
        start ril-daemon
        start ril-daemon1
        start ril-daemon2
    fi

    case "$netmgr" in
        "true")
        start netmgrd
    esac
esac

Could somebody (a dev) evaluate the difficulty of getting CM12 in line with this?

[Q] Q&A- Different radio versions general question topic

I'm by no means an expert, but I have rooted/flashed ROMs on different phones the past few years. This has been my first time running into a phone where the ROMs are picky on which bootloader or radios are installed beforehand. The bootloader/bootstack I understand , but what about radios? Aside from different ROMs requiring certain radio versions, what's the real difference between 12b and 27a? Better signal from towers? Better Lte connectivity?

FM Radio for DN4 topic

Guys ! This will give you a feeling like DN4 has a perfect working Radio.

This is a radio app (spirit) fully themed like Samsung radio . Tested & working perfectly on DN4. (FM Recording also working ! :) )

Steps :

1. Download apk and install it like normal app. That's it.
Don't try to move the apk in system/app or priv-app.(It will become useless !)

Enjoy.

FM Radio disabled in airplane mode, why ? topic

This bugs me.

Why does FM radio disable when you turn on airplane mode? It's not data, that can be disabled, but airplane mode kills it.

Any way around +

NOOB with a question about missing radio band after installing CM10.1.3 topic

Sorry if this has been answered but I searched quite a bit and didn't see anything that looked similar! I flashed my Atrix HD to CM 10.1..3 because the phone is old and was slowing down. This was my fist attempt at a process like this and I figured it out and the phone is working great except I don't get LTE speeds like I was getting before. After a lot of research I think I know why but I can't figure out the fix. I checked my wife's phone (stock S3) by dialing *#0011# and her radio band is band 17. I went into my settings using *#*#4636#*#* and there is no Band 17 available. The only bands it shows is AUS2, USA, Cellular, PCS, Band Class 6 and Band Class 15.
Is there a way to enable Band 17 in Cyanogenmod 10.1.3???

Best Radio topic

I don't spend a lot of time in the AT&T thread. Mostly just the general M8 area.

Lately I've noticed what I thought was some worse cellular radio reception.
My baseband is 1.21.2533xxxxxxxx

Had anyone had better success with a different radio. All of my ROMs are Lollipop

[Q] HTC One M8 Verizon - Radio band missing after messing with phone info settings topic

Hi Guys.

Short info:
- before: HTC One M8 Verizon, Android 4.4.4 (RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4), rooted, S-OFF, Super CID, TWRP 2.8.3.0
- after: HTC One M8 Verizon, Android 4.4.4 (Viper OneM8 3.2.1), rooted, S-OFF, Super CID, TWRP 2.8.3.0.

Few hours ago I finished "converting" HTC One M8 Verizon from 4.4.4 to T-Mobile version, successfully installing Viper OneM8 3.2.1 over 4.4.4 RUU firmware, as described in this post:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2710720

The main reason for the above was lack of LTE services under Verizon firmware (I live in Europe).

Finished installing Viper ROM, configuring phone, restored content (apps, contacts, settings etc) - part of it manually. LTE still not available, and continued to verify.

In the end I started to check Viper Tweaks section, and finally got to Misc - Phone info. While there, I checked also Radio bands, and I was stuck in the radio menu, with only 3 options (US Radios, 900-, 1900-). Had to select one to continue, and ... the winner was 900-. Instantly lost GSM signal and never came back.

Just to be nicer, after reboot (normal reboot), 900- option disappeared from Radio bands in Phone info advanced menu, and never came back. No matter what I did.

What I did try (all with full wipe / formatting etc):
- resetting Viper ROM
- reinstalled Viper ROM
- reverting to RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4 nandroid backup (saved before first installing Viper ROM).
- reverting to clean RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4 firmware
- flashed 4.4.4 radio from this topic: forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/development/radios-0-89-20-0222-t2824882
- reverting to Viper One ROM, this time installed with T-Mobile version. Same outcome, different message: "error er05 invalid sim".

Error messages stepped on:

Constant: "The SIM card is from an unknown source"

From time to time: "your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network."

If I tried to select GSM network and search for operators (manually / automatic): "No network found. Select "Yes" to switch to global mode, or Select "No" to stay in current mode." And "Error searching for networks" / "No networks found".

The only thing that did not have possibility to check (yet): SIM card health.

UPDATE: SIM card checked and OK, phone registered finally (T Mobile version of Viper One had also "Auto" option under Radio band, in Phone info hidden menu! :eek:).

Still working on this, managed to solve it while compiling this post, but still have the question: what have I done so wrong, and how can I get back to the "good" setting? Is the radio band setting so resilient to full format, several ROM's and resets, even radio firmware change?!

I will revert with updates!

Thanks!

[Q] Upgrading radio in order to read SIM card? topic

I'm new here so I apologize in advance if I'm not doing smoething right.
So right now here's the information for the phone I have:
HTC One M8, KitKat 4.4.4, Paranoid 4.4.5, I've obviously rooted and my custom recovery thing is CLockwork. and I don't know what else to put. I've already tried locating APN, ,but nothing pops up and I can't create a new APN reference since my SIM card isn't somehow in the device (even though it physically is).
I don't know if there's a general ROM section in this forum, but basically for any custom ROM I've tried to flash, my SIM card can't be read and as a result I can't activate my mobile 4G LTE. I read somewhere on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2338491 that I have to upgrade my radio or something, but I also have a chance of bricking my phone. What version do I need to upgrade to in order to fit with any custom ROM I flash? Or just ParanoidAndroid 4.4.5.
