[Q] Kindle Fire HD TWRP Backup restore Help topic

Hey guys,
I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7" (Tate) and installed a second boot loader and TWRP recovery. I installed CM11 but actually preferred the Amazon Fire OS. I tried to restore my backup from TWRP recovery, but I think it restored the boot partition badly. It now just flashes the Orange kindle fire logo, then reboots and does the same thing again and reboots etc. etc. Is there a way I can restore a Stock Fire Os Rom from my PC now or get into fastboot and re flash the boot loader (The files are in the downloads folder)
Thanks!

Is there a "KFHD System.img Restore Tool" for Kindle Fire HD 8.9? topic

I just got my blacklisted Kindle Fire HD 8.9 today and want to flash a custom ROM. I did the 7 with this a while back but forgot how I did it. I do have a fastboot cable. I tried that KFFirstAide64 but I never get it to root, I gave up on it on the 7 and succeeded with the KFHD System.img Restore Tool, can I do this with the 8.9 also?

Kindle Fire HD 7 2014 Quad Core ... rootable? topic

I won a brand new, still sealed Kindle Fire HD 7 that was listed as blacklisted on eBay. I have bought many online and rooted them and placed a custom ROM on them so I thought it was no big deal. When it arrived I noticed on the box it said it is Quad Core with two cameras! I didn't even know that existed. Anyway I attempted to register it under my account and it keeps saying "the information entered doesn't match and Amazon account." I logged in fine on the website with the same information. Attempted my wife's also and got the same results. Oh well, I planned on rooting it anyway so I came to this site and I am not seeing any info on doing it for this model.

Is this one rootable? Version number is 20.4.1.0.

Transfer Kindle books from Android phone topic

Hello, I dont know if this is the correct forum, but here goes nothing. I have a book that is ONLY available in an Android Kindle. Amazon will not let me download this on any other platform, even Kindle Touch.

So, I basically need to move a book that, I purchased, from my android phone to my PC/Kindle Touch. I have found the kindle "files" in my android folder location but those are not in Kindle format or any ebook format. So wondering how can I extract the ebook files?

thanks.

[HELP] 1 Kindle Bricked, second chance to install SlimKat ROM topic

Alright, last night I attempted to do all of the neccesary steps to install SlimKat ROM onto my Kindle Fire 1st generation on 6.3.3 and eventually got the Kindle to have no OS installed, wouldn't boot into recovery (would just power off), and ADB would not respond (device unauthorized). The only thing that worked was fastboot commands. At the moment, that Kindle Fire is on the back burner. I now have a second Kindle Fire and am attempting the same thing but have recorded all of my steps and am stuck.

From my understanding, if a OS was installed ADB would be asking for permission. However, since one isn't I can't grant permission and the device is stuck in offline mode. What do I do?

Code:

Installing drivers ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire/development/how-to-kindle-fire-1-update-6-3-3-t2814955 )
        Downloaded Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.9
Restarted Windows 8.1 with signature enforcement disabled
        Ran install_drivers.bat
                - Device manager shows Android Phone with Android ADB Interface
        Restarted PC

Rooting with Saferoot ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire/development/how-to-kindle-fire-1-update-6-3-3-t2814955 )
        Downloaded Saferoot
        Running install.bat
Never passed "Plug in your phone and Press any key to continue . . . " after pressing a key
        Re-running install.bat as administrator
No prompt and stuck on "Waiting for your phone to appear"
Uninstalled Android ADB Interface from device manager
Reinstalled Android Composite ADB Interface from device manager
Finally detected Kindle and continued with root.
        Rooted succesfully

Flashing FFF and TWRP without Fastboot Cable ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54124313&postcount=3 )
        Downloaded files
        Following instructions
Step 6, fastboot devices doesn't display any devices
Fastboot commands working according to ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54156851&postcount=7 )
                        Reattempting step 5
fastboot devices doesn't display any devices but the kindle fire logo is without animation, continuing anyways.
Appears to have worked regardless of not displaying devices, kindle rebooted with fire in blue

Installing OtterX ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2671619 )
        Downloaded files
        Following instructions
Step 1, can't use command "adb shell "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0boot0 of=/sdcard/boot0.bin"" because /dev/block/mmcblk0boot0: cannot open for read: No such file or directory
Instead, backed up with TWRP backup.
                        Mounted through TWRP
Created folder in kindle directory titled "mount1" and placed otterx-u-boot_v2.05.zip in it
                        Unmounted through TWRP
                        Flashed otterx-u-boot_v2.05.zip through install /mount1/
                Step 2
Flashed zip-otterx-twrp-2.8.3.0-recovery.zip through TWRP install in /mount1/
                Step 5
adb push Slim-otterx-4.4.4.build.8.8-gcc4.7.zip /sdcard/ reports error: device not found
adb devices reports no devices found
device manager doesn't list Kindle or Android phone, but instead, MTP
Installed Android Composite ADB Interface to MTP which now displays as Android Phone
adb devices now shows one device as offline
Requested help on XDADev for the sake of not bricking another Kindle ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire/help/help-1-kindle-bricked-chance-to-install-t3039763 )
adb devices no longer shows any device
Device manager now shows Amazon OtterX and MTP without drivers
Installing Android Composite ADB Interface to Amazon OtterX and MTP
Both now show under Android phone as Android Composite ADB Interface
adb devices now shows the kindle as offline again

What can be done to a 4th generation Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"? topic

Hi everybody.
I just ordered a new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"
It's just for testing, im 100% sure i will return it back to Amazon as soon as I've learned whats FireOS and what can be done.

I'm saying this because I've read some forums and i think i know some things, but not everything.
I've read I need to know things like firmware version of the tablet, Software version before doing anything risky.

My objective is realise if this tablet can be a great deal for me. For instance, I NEED YOUTUBE. I've read and watch some videos and it's not complicated. great.
But... What about alternative markets? or Google Play itself? Launchers? any Pure Android ROM?
I've seen root can be easily done (as far as i've understood) with TowelRoot, wich, i understand, is a reversible thing (superSU app, unroot)

What else can I say? Im not expert, but I'm not dumb. if you guys want me to check a step by step guide, I can do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards.

Noob's Confused with Kindle Fire OS topic

Hi I am a total noob when it comes to the Kindle Fire HDX. I have been trying to keep upto date as regards rooting this device (I have the Kindle Fire HDX 7") and like it except for the Operating Software.
When I look at threads regards to rooting I was getting very "noob confused" as regards to the OS versions because all I see (mostly) is reference to Versions 13.x.x.x or 14.x.x.x and could not undersatnd where the 13 or 14 came from because when I look at my version of OS all I see is 4.5.2 can not see a 13 or 14 mentioned on my Kindle.

So I had a good look at my Kindle and eventualy found that when I go to: settings, system updates and tap on the words "your device is running" I now see 13.4.5.2_user_452004220 there has been no mention on any of the threads regards how to get the full OS version so this is why I posted this.

I want to root my device but I am holding off because of the possible problems at the moment I intend to gather as much information before I attempt but I do think there will be a full proof way of doing it in the future especialy for noob's like me.

Can any member tell me if the 13/14 is the year ??
and what the number is after the word user ??

Kindle Fire Performance topic

Okay, so I've converted my Kindle Fire to OtterX, and I've tried pretty much every ROM made for OtterX, and the thing lags so much, it's pretty much unusable. Even after the initial flash with no apps added, it lags really bad. My question is, is it my device, or are there some tricks to getting this thing so it's at least usable.

[Q] Kindle Fire rooting issues. topic

Greetings, XDA-D community,

I have a Kindle Fire 7.4.9 in my possession and an ultimate goal is to drop Kindle OS and get KitKat on it (open for better options, was told KitKat is not the best for tablets).
It's also my first rooting experience.

I unsuccessfully tried to follow 3 guides below, but didn't get far.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2351201
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2192818
http://www.reddit.com/r/kindlefire/c...otloader_root/

I managed to get SuperSU thru the first link (Bin4ry v3.3), but that was the end of it.
I can NOT get anything done thru KFU (0.9.9 and 0.9.6) due to Boot Status: Unknown - at least that's what I think.

I'm trying to root on Windows 7 x64, also have up-to-date Java and Android SDK.

Any help pointing me in to the right direction is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
