I saw a thread on how to unroot s4 on 4.4.4, but I can't find it anywhere. It's my wife's phone so I just want it to be returned to stock if possible so she can update to any new updates that come out soon. I used the odin towelroot method to root. I'm using safestrap as well. Any help would be great

I am completely new to rooting and I followed Wolfdroid's tutorial to root my phone.
I got to the point where i had CWM, but when I was trying to install from my SD card there was no option.
I'm stuck with the Samsung "unlock" Custom load up screen and every time i try to go into recovery, it immediately goes to download odin mode, but it still says im not rooted. I know it's possible to boot normally by going to download and pressing Volume down, but if it's possible I would like to get my phone back to an completely unrooted state.
I've tried unrooting with SuperSU but that just ends up freezing.

Can't enable Google Now after a factory reset topic

Hi, I have an M8 I converted into GPE. I used stock GPE until November when SkyDragon's Lollipop rom was released and ran SD until last week. I wanted to go back to stock so I ran graffixnyc's 5.01 RUU and everything was fine. Then, I wanted to mess with xposed so I ran it for a few days. I decided to get rid of it so I ran another RUU last night.

However, when I set up my new device Google Now was not brought up in the setup. Additionally, I can no longer swipe from the left to bring up Google Now. The search bar still works, but I cannot enable Google Now. I've tried everything. Clearing app data, cache, booting into safe mode, wiping cache partition, and just now RUU'd again but to no avail. Is there anything you all recommend? Attached are what the Google Settings screens looked like before and after updating the Google app.

[Q] CM12 Nightly Factory Reset Lost Root topic

Was handing off my phone to my son, moving on to an LG G2, I let him test it out under my account, he added his account and phone was a little sluggish since the extra account was taking up more RAM, so he hands it to me while I was in bed and needs help, I factory reset it thinking it would just wipe out my personal data and allow him to enter his, well it did, but now he lost Root and I am stuck on the 1st nightly with memory leak...
Any method available to reroot this phone when in 5.0 so I can continue upgrading with nightlies? Or am I in a world of hurt now?:confused:

My soon to be ex-roommate and ex-"friend" has been spying on me with computer backdoors and spyware on my Droid Maxx (4.4.4-7) I am 100% on this, I can list the reasons why but judging from other threads in random sites, that would be a distraction. I will leave it at knowing special knowledge, his behavior and "real-time" reactions while I use the phone (clearing throat when I do certain things... now coughing since I told him he does that and he can't hold it back), everytime I reset the phone he slams the doors, caused my phone to hang up when I said "fraud" on the credit card phone system. Anyways it's legit. He did the same stuff for my computer he responded to what I typed in even and relayed what I searched for (gloating). He made random sounds play and throttled my PC speed to a crawl.

So I read elsewhere after the stuff with my phone continued to happen that there is software that can survive factory resets... I'm not sure if the ROM or kernel is the issue or some other firmware (relative noob compared to most of you) or if it is the SIM card which provides access. (if you think I am crazy look into it: since I can't post links search "Sim card apps defcon notes" and "the secret life of sim cards" also from Defcon. Also there is a somewhat related story about SIM cards being hacked in the beginning of most sim card hack searches)

He had one of his always precisely timed coughing fits when I started looking into SIM Tookit Hacks so I am suspicious of that. This was after getting a new phone (unfortunately I had the old SIM card in the new one for about an hour, I didn't know they were essentially little computers)

What do I do here? I have stock 4.4.4-7, no root (Droid Maxx is usually impossible to root currently). I have a new SIM card in but I'm afraid that now the new phone and the card are infected.

The computer software he used (backdoor/rootkits) Were mostly undetectable. I got lucky and detected only one backdoor, but later had rootkit activity detected but nothing found. I believe he has access to some new "zeroday" PC/Android software or at least it is pretty advanced. Perhaps the SIMcard has an applet that allows him to install the software over and over again since the card is not formated. This capability has been discussed in I believe both of the two first links.

I want to flash EVERYTHING. ROM, kernels, other firmware... Not sure how that could be done since I don't have root (maybe I am ignorant here) and many Verizon techs I have talked to think factory resets always work. Yes, this stuff is unlikely in general, but he has made a concerted effort to target me. Antivirus has been worthless.

I need to know 100% that everything is clean.

Guys, I do apologize if I created this thread on an inappropriate way. I'm desperate. I Updated my HTC One to Android 5.0.2 through OTA. As it's recommended, I did a Factory Data Reset. NOW EVERYTHING IS LOST, MY PHOTOS,MY CONTACTS AND SMS BACKUPS, EVERYTHING. I did Factory Data Reset Before, But It Never Erased those files. I Don't know whether its because of Android 5 or not. BUT PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME TO RESTORE THOSE DELETED FILES, I'd be MOST GRATEFUL. I DO APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. MY PHONE IS NOT ROOTED and it's Completely STOCK. I Tried Several Recovery Apps, However as HTC one only has Internal Storage, the File System is not known, therefore, None of them Detected it.

Nexus 9 LTE Factory Image with no encryption topic

Hi,

I was pretty dismayed on two counts :

1. The stock factory image doesn't work without editing
2. It's uber-fiddly to get encryption disabled unless you really know what you are doing

There's the problem, so the solution has to be a stock factory fastboot install with no encryption - easy!! This I have created.

1. Download


2. Extract the zip


3. Go into the folder where the image files and flash-all files are


4. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Linux or OSX)


5. Run flash-all.bat for windows or .\flash-all.sh for Linux or OSX

Once flashed you will have a stock un-encrypted Nexus 9 LTE.

Can't Wipe Data / Factory Reset in CWM Recovery topic

Hy,,

Today I had to reinstall my galaxy fame because he could not get in the main menu android. Only the logo galaxy fame repeatedly. But once I do reinstall, she stays that way. simply return the logo as before.
I then tried to get into recovery mode, but failed. then I change the recovery mode using CWM recovery and successful. But when I want to do a Wipe Data, suddenly the phone off and back to normal (only the logo galaxy fame).

Factory unlocked note 4 question. topic

I just have a quick question, there's a store that sells factory unlocked Verizon and Att&T Note 4's and my question is (sounds dumb) are the bootloaders locked as well? I'm looking forward to buying one in April, but if the bootloader is still locked even though it's a factory unlocked device I'm not going to buy it since I want a unlocked bootloader for obvious reasons.

So a few months ago I installed a custom recovery (CWM) for my phone to install some ROMS and stuff. But since then, I've had problems like all my apps stopping to work altogether after like, and hour or two of use or even 10 minutes of use. I've tried flashing other ROMs and factory ROM but the problem seems to have persisted every time. Anyway, so I think I'll probably need to make my own recovery.img somehow? I don't know, please help. The specs of my phone:

OS: Jelly Bean v4.1.
CPU: Cortex A9.
Chipset: MediaTek 6577.

I think those informations are enough to give guidance.

Okay so I've gone through around 4 HTC one m8's luckily they've all been within the first year. I just got my replacement from HTC this morning. I want to flash GPE Lollipop 5.0.1 but in order for that to happen I need s-off. After I set my phone up I tried to run SunShine and it said my device was incompatible. Is there anything I can do to possibly gain s-off.
