[Q] Really weird problem with Redmi 1s - MIUI Camera Vanished topic

I've got a Redmi 1s with stock ROM. (v36.0) 4.3 JLS36C with root. Everything was working fine and I was taking some pictures. All of a sudden Camera shortcut got deleted from the Launcher. I checked the presence of Camera.apk and .odex file at /system/app and is still present there. Tried the following steps, but could not get the Camera launcher back online.

Details:
Rooted stock (version 36.0) CWM installed
Steps tried so far:
Cleared Cache
Cleared Dalvik Cache
Checked the permissions and ownership of the camera.apk.
Tried copying the camera.apk to the sdcard folder and tried installing. It prompted with a warning that the installed app will replace a system app, and on clicking install, the installation failed with an error message "installation failed"
Nothing worked.

Links2SD is installed and none of the apps are frozen.
Tried activity launcher to see if there any camera activity that can be launched, but again in vain.

Please help to get the camera back. I really like the MIUI Camera app. (For the time being, I'm using Camera ICS, Instagram and Fast Burst camera to capture some of the moments with my little one! :( )

costume rom for the note 4, is it really necessary? topic

before i bought the note 4, i used to own S3.
while the base original rom for the S3 was pretty bad in most ways & custom roms were a must, it's not the case in the N4! i find it fast, no bugs or lags etc.
so i was wondering, when talking about the note 4, why bother with rooting and costume roms, losing the warranty etc?
what's the different from custom roms to Samsung's original rom?

Brand new to the group so I thought I'd say hi and ask this question.

You see, I have this problem with my SM-N910 (Galaxy Note 4 for N.A.) That I'd recently purchased here in Canada. Works just fine until suddenly, problems popped up. so I thought doing a factory reset would help solve the problem. Only to realize that, it made it somewhat worst. Because it went to being a Note 4 for Canada (N910) to a Note 4 for China (N9100), Plus it didn't help that now the Boot-Up screen went from showing that it's a "Samsung Galaxy Note 4 powered by Android" with Samsung logo showing up afterwards, to just "Android", with the Android logo showing up afterwards. Is there anyway of fixing this? Any and all advice would be definitely appreciated! Thanks in return! :)

Is the audio quality really that bad? topic

Really interested in this phone but I keep reading ONE complaint (often typed in all caps):

The audio from both the speaker AND the headphone jack are terrible. Both the fidelity and volume. It seems to be lacking in power/output, but not having had the chance to test it for myself, I can't compare it to the 10/10 Droid Maxx (Ultra) speaker quality. Just thought I'd pick a few brains and see what you guys had to say.

My new battery dies really quickly from 100% to 85% - any advice? topic

Hey guys,

I replaced the battery in my N5 because it was dying insanely fast (like 1.5 hrs SOT and 8 hrs uptime). The battery lasts quite well now (certainly much better than before), but it drops from 100% to 85% really quickly before discharing as normal.

I think my phone just doesn't really know the right percentages anymore - is there any way I can reset this software wise, or is it hardware? I know wiping the battery stats .bin file is controversial, so I wanted to see if there's an actual way to do this that's proven to work

Really sow USB transfer speeds topic

So I always transfer my whatsapp folder from one phone to the next and then have everything restore.

The folder is about 650mb and transferring to my samsung s5 took about 2-3 minutes but for some reason it is taking 2.30 hours! on the Motorola Droid Turbo (I have the gsm version called moto maxx).

What exactly am I doing wrong? It should not take almost 3 hours to transfer 650mb of files to a phone via USB 2.0

I Really wondered where Amazon got there screensaver images from..... and now I know.....

I managed to locate the stock images that are poured down into the FTV, all 350mb plus of them.... One of the screensaver images is by a photographer called Sara Winter,... and if you go to that page and scroll down you can see her image called "Rainforest Waterfalls",.. Attachment 3183699
It's priced at , .... as I'm from the UK that comes to about £50 +.... (no, honestly, it really does)... I'm just curious if Sara knows her images are being flushed down the pipes of many ATV users.....

Really messed up!!! topic

So today I decided to factory reset my phone but everytime I try to do it from the Backup & Reset part of Settings it doesn't do it, like doesn't even reboot. so I figured I'd down the Power Down, Volume andPower same time, and my phone says

***Relocked***
***Security Warning***
S-ON
HBOOT-1.56
I figured nothing of it, so then I clicked Bootloader, and then clicked Factory Reset, it says "Entering Recovery" for about a milisecond and then takes me back to the main page of Booatloader.
I have a M7 got it from Best Buy, Sprint, is there anyways I can reset my Phone and fix it?

[Q]What does BUMPed really mean? topic

The term BUMPed is the only term I am unfamiliar with as I delve deeper into Android modification. I constantly hear the term BUMPed recovery, BUMPed bootloader, This will only work if you're bumped, etc. Everytime I google this question I find people referencing the term bump as a forum post method, nothing to do with android modification.

[Q] Is it possible to perform really low level operation with XPosed modules? topic

Hi,

I'm trying to code my first XPosed module.
What I'm trying to achieve is very low level operations, such as reading/writing the process's memory, or hook the core library functions and run my own functions.
Can this kind of stuff be achieved with XPosed modules?
My first idea would be to inject a function that loads a custom *.so file that performs such tasks.
I was wondering if there was a better way, without the need to use .so files.

Stamina mode is really good, isn't it? topic

Stamina mode - Is it really good or necessary for you? Because when I activate Stamina mode on my Z1, there will be issue: App running background such as email, viber etc does not function as usual. IE: it does not predicablly check my mail box, viber does not receive call nor messages.
