I want to restore my warranty, but I don't know my region where the phone came from and the cust number. I really would like to restore my warranty it is with locked bootloader, but I don't which .ftf to get

I've purchased Nexus 5 (16 GB) from eBay (India). I lately opened my eyes and came to know that Nexus 5 I've got from ebay will not cover under warrenty. is that true ? :crying: :rolleyes: :eek:

So my usb port is messing up as now I have to add pressure to the cable in order for it to charge. I have cleaned the port and while there was a good amount of lint in it, it still needs pressure for it to charge. I have contacted HTC and they gave me the option to send it for repair or get a new one and send the old one in. However since it is S-OFF & rooted, I was wondering if flash the RUU and switch back to S-ON will it be ok? Since they had told me that if the boot loader had been unlocked etc it no longer is covered by the warranty. Sorry for the long post

Hey guys i bought my N6 in mid December if im not mistaken and lately i have been having issues with the screen where half of it freezes and cant be used.what i am wondering is am i screwed here with a faulty unit or should i still be able to get a replacement from google since its been like two months now.I have no idea how their warranty works which is why i ask to see if anybody can chime in on this.thanks for any help.

My problem is the following.

After installing CyanogenMod 10.2.1.3 I noticed a little problem. Whenever I plug the usb cable phone when it is off, screen stuck on "set warranty bit: kernel" with the empty battery icon.

The phone reboot normally after disconnecting the cable.

For information, I bought my phone with I9195XXUCNH5.

Is there a fix ?

[Q] Root Moto G 2013 and warranty topic

I have a brand new moto G (2013 lte) and I'd like to root it and install custom Roms. I read some articles in internet and I read that if you want to unlock the bootloader you need a code you get from Motorola's website. Requesting the code code will void your warranty because your phone will be saved by Motorola as unlocked. But I also read articles where they use Cf auto root (by chain fire) to automatically root the moto g and there is no sign to request the Motorola unlock code in any step. Must the phone be already unlocked before cf autoroot or there is a way to root without being saved in Motorola databases? There is a way to unroot? I purchased the moto g from amazon, and I think that if I brick my phone rooting and I don't tell amazon that I tried to root, they would replace my phone anyway. I'm scared of the Motorola databases instead. I'm asking so because I own a nexus 5 and I rooted it, then I had to send in back because of a screen problem, so I unroofed and everything went very well. Thank you and sorry for horrible English.

As topic says. I've tried to root my samsung galaxy s3 LTE (GT-i9305) using towelroot with various modstrings and using compiled c source of towelroot (tr_c). But it didn't worked.
So im wondering if it is possible to root my phone and then reset knox counter or to root phone without tripping knox counter.

My phone specs are:
GT-I9305 (Orange branding)
Android 4.4.4
Modem version: I9305XXUFNJ1 (or is that baseband?)
Kernel: 3.0.31-2918012

[Q] Tmobile Galaxy S5 root without triggering knox, warranty, lollipop questions topic

Going to cut it as short as I can, and I'll probably sound like a noob and annoying at the same time. Can I root my Galaxy S5 T-Mobile 4.4.2 G900TUVU1CNK2 without triggering knox? I don't want to touch anything (no rom or loader or anything) - I just want it to be rooted so I have some access.

If that can't be done, can I root and yet still send back to T-Mobile as a warranty replacement without them charging me?

If I were to root, can I still use the OTA upgrade from Lollipop once it comes out or does it have to be done a different way?

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, so I hope this is thread is in the right place.
Also, please understand that while I'm quite tech-savvy in general, I don't know a lot about phones.

I recently bought a Sony Z3 Compact, model d5803 with stock firmware 23.0.1.A.5.77.
I would like to root it so that I can:
a) migrate data (application data) from my previous phone - using Titanium backup.
b) uninstall some user apps that come with the phone by default, but that I don't want on my phone

I don't especially need or want to use a custom ROM.
On my previous phone that ran under Android 4.1.2, I was able to do just that.

I've read several threads on this forum, but I'm a bit lost.
From what I understand, if I want to root my d5803 w/ 23.0.1.A.5.77 I need to flash the bootloader, and this will void the warranty.

My questions:
1) Is my understanding correct?
2) Is there a way to root this phone w/o losing the warranty? From my understanding, this could be possible if I was running 23.0.A.2.93 firmware?

Some more info you may need
* my d5803 came w/ the 93 firmware but I updated it when I first got it.
* it's an unlocked phone (not bought from a carrier)
* the bootloader is unlockable
* I don't wan't to void the warranty and - of course - I don't want to brick the phone!
