Hello all - Mr. TechDunce, UK here .... :eek:
Seriously, I am of a generation that struggles valiantly to cope with IT, and is looked at pityingly by offspring with the odd comment that "well, you do try, Dad " and " well, you usually get there in the end...." !

Which is about right I suppose ! He also tries to sort me out, but is a way away, so not always on tap .... :o

However, having succumbed to the delights of the Tab S 10.5 (white, 16g, 128micro card) following an intensive "WHICH" test and review (which gave it the edge over ipad-ery), I am struggling a bit with some simple features - but love the tablet itself, a delight to use, superb picture, very long-lived battery life, excellent response etc...., easy on the eye, and nice to hold.
In short, I'm generally thrilled with it .

But a few things beat me, the main annoyance being I can't figure how to simply bookmark a site/page for easy reference - i.e. how to do it, and then how to access it when needed.
For now, it's my biggest bugbear, but if anyone can help with this, I'll master that before exposing my ignorance any more just yet - I do prefer to find out for myself, but this has me flummoxed !
Here's hoping a kindly soul takes pity on me ..... :rolleyes:

[Q] how to do USB internet or simple reverse tethering (as in Xiaomi redmi 1s)??? topic

In Xiaomi Redmi 1s & some other phones, i've seen an option in settings as USB internet which simply allows us to use the internet from PC on our phone via USB cable... I know it's possible doing reverse tethering on our phone using terminal emulator & scripts but it's a tedious process. Can anyone make an app or make a setting in our phone to do reverse tethering easy as on above mentioned phones? (i don't have wifi access & 3g costs like hell for unlimited usage here :crying:)

I just finished another game that I made using BobEngine. It's called Bounce the Beach Ball. The concept is simple, tap the screen to make the ball jump and try to get through the game to the next platform. If you don't make it through and hit the bottom of the next platform, it's game over! This game features Google Play Games services including leaderboards and achievements!

[Q] Simple CWM Recovery & Lollipop install? topic

I've looked through these forums and haven't really gotten any clear answers. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 with the VRUFNC5 firmware. I tried to install CWM Recovery using Rom Manager. It looked as if it installed just fine. Says its installed, however, when I boot into recovery, its the stock recovery. I very much want to install CWM recovery on my phone. I would prefer the Touch version, but it's not necessary. Also, I really want to put Lollipop on there too. I'm running stock 4.4.2 now. Most everything I've seen is for every other model of S4 other than mine. Could you please lead me in the right direction if this is at all possible. I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello,I have a simple question,trying to add RUSSIAN language to my LG PHONE VS920 ,I edit all the apps needed and added russian values,but I need to add the language to settings language list,I don't want to use morelocale2 to select the language,what should I edit to get my language appears in the language list to simply change it from phone's settings.there is no csc folder to edit language.xml file just like the other samsung phones.

Simple android endpoint app topic

I have this particular problem: I don't have a phone, but I have a Skype phone number, SMS is very convenient but Skype cannot receive SMS from phones however it can send SMS to phones. So I send my friends texts but it is one way.

I'm a web developer, not a platform developer <- much harder in my opinion, syntax

So, if I created a database to store messages, users, and used that as an API and I wanted a simple app with a text box that you can write into and receive, with a send button / search for user/contact, how hard is that to do for all three platforms? Connect to the database then communicate with this app as if it was a native SMS client.

Maybe it already exists...

I think it's a good idea.

Although I should just get a phone ha

Can someone suggest me a simple lockscreen app? topic

I have a Galaxy Note 3 and I have some problem where the lockscreen clock remains at some earlier period of time yet the system time changes! This had lead me to serious problems, as when I press the phone's home screen button to just see the time when I am sleepy I see some time which is actually not the updated time, which is extremely annoying. So I am looking for a third party app which could sort this problem out. I have tried a few third party lock screen apps as well, but didn't like any of them, Dodol, DIY etc., didn't like them, they set the wallpaper zoomed in and the wallpaper thus looks pretty bad! Is there a simple lock screen app where I can just set the time anywhere but in the middle of the screen and it will have custom wallpaper support (which will set the wallpaper properly, not zoomed in or anything)? That's all I need.

[FIX] Stuck In Simple Recovery [CM][S4] topic

Hi guys,

I just wanted to share you my Quick and Easy guide on how to fix the "Stuck in Simple Recovery" for CyanogenMod ROMs. I had this just once, a few weeks ago and important data was on my phone that I didn't want be lost. So let's get to it:

1. Take out the battery to make sure Phone is COMPLETELY turned off. (Or just turn it off, just to make sure...)
2. Insert battery. Then hold Volume Down button (not volume up), Home Button and Power Button at the same time.
3. It will say "Downloading" or "Download Mode". Connect your Phone using USB to PC and open up Odin (Download here)
(If it does not show up, Download drivers here)
4. Click on the AP tab on Odin v3.10, and click on the CWM zip file (Select version and Download here)
5. It will reboot (or give an option to reboot).
6. Done! :laugh:
