[Q] on downgrading bootloader... topic

will I risk bricking the device if I downgrade the bootloader? I've searched and have found varied, non-reliable answers.

Edit - Doesn't flash if you try to downgrade anyway. Will leave for reference.

[Q] Soft-bricked S5 G900A after downgrading from OA1 topic

Hi all. Long time reader, first time poster.

I was rooted on NG3 and figured I'd downgrade to NCE so I could get the 4.4.4 update. 4.4.4 wouldn't update in that condition and I wanted to ensure I'd be able to get Lollipop (it is coming, AT&T, right?). I backed up everything in Kies, downgraded to NCE and took the OTA to 4.4.4. All was well and then when I went to restore my backup from Kies, it told me I could backup everything except my apps. Being lazy, I figured I'd start all over and do the restore of all my apps while still on 4.4.2, then take the OTA to 4.4.4 again.

I started all over using the method linked below, but after Odin finishes and the S5 reboots, the Samsung splash logo animation almost finishes, pauses for a few seconds and the screen goes black and the notification LED is on blue and becomes non-responsive.

I've tried going into recovery and wiping cache and data and starting the Odin process linked below again with the same results for the past 3-4 hours. I've tried Kies update and initialization but that tells me my phone isn't compatible. Did 4.4.4 do something with the boot-loader and now it's incompatible with 4.4.2?

Any ideas or other options? Thanks in advance!

Downgrading from lollipop to kitkat topic

I decided yesterday to apply the Lollipop OTA to my completely stock M8. However it has some issues and I simply don't like it. Is there any easy way to go back to kitkat? This guide seems overly complex for such a simple task:

My search skills are very bad so pardon me if this has been asked too many times.

I've read somewhere that downgrading is possible by manual method without flashing the gpt and motoboot file.

Once downgrade is done. is it possible to install a custom kitkat rom afterwards?

Ok so I thought this guide can help some noobs. If u didn't like Lollipop like me and want to revert back to Kitkat/Any custom kitkat ROM just do the following
1. Go to custom recovery, wipe data, cache, format partition
2. Flash whatever ROM u want OR flash a nandroid backup if u had any.

[Q] Downgrading from 5.0 back to 4.4.2 UK topic

Hey all,
I have tried searching about this on the forum, but I can't seem to find anything solid. And I'm a novice at that.

I made the mistake of auto updating my S5 to Lollipop and my phone is seriously laggy, wont respond at times battery drains very quickly etc etc.
I've looked into ways of downgrading back to 4.4.2 and I'm sure I can use Odin and possibly Kies.

Kies seems like the easier option, can you downgrade using it? Through Tools, then Firmware Upgrade and initialization? Or will it restore it to the current version 5.0?

Odin seems to be more difficult, I've seen comments on how it hasn't worked out and I don't want to muck my phone up I've only had it this year, this procedure wont void the warranty will it?
Going through SamMobile on country, my carrier is o2UK would I select o2 or BTU? As I'm sure my phone shipped unlocked. (bought it through o2)
Would I need to also download a 7Zip driver? Or use the stock one which comes with Windows?


I've backed the phone up using Kies3.0, I'm just scared about using Odin.

This may seem ridiculous to you, but I would really appreciate any help, or tips.

[Q] Messaging not working after downgrading D415 topic

Hi, long time reader first time poster.I recently downgraded my D415 from an update that caused me to lose my root. I found this thread [Easy][GUIDE][UNROOT][RELOCK BOOTLOADER]Flash Stock KDZ Offline LG L90 [All Variants]. I followed the directions and got my D415 back to "C" version. But when it came back to "c" life my messaging no longer worked along with google search and a couple other apps. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. I really miss my texting. I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else. BTW this is a really great and helpful site..........Thanx!!
