[Q] New Update causes major problems?! topic

Hello guys,

I've got a huge problem, actually a friend of mine. She is owner of a Sony Xperia Z and just downloaded a new update and installed it.
After the reboot, the android robot lays on the ground with an open stomach and a red triangle! It means that the operating system is broken or no software is installed.
Great, so I tried to help her and wanted in the recovery, but it didn't worked and the PC is not connecting with the phone. So every time when the phones starts the android robot is laying on the ground.

1.Q: How is this even possible that a official software update is causing such a big problem?
2.Q: Does anyone know how to fix that? :p

Thankful for any help!

Replacing boot.img causes bootloop topic

Hi.
I have downloaded a custom ROM, but I want to change the kernel with a standard kitkat kernel, however, from what I have read, it is possible to do that by replacing the boot.img in the custom ROM zip with the boot.img from the standard kitkat.

However when I do that, I get a bootloop after I flash it (having performed a full wipe before, of course). It goes as far as the device logo (so it gets as far as logo.bin) but no further.

I'm pretty new to this, so I dont have anything else modified, other than opening the zip file and dragging, dropping and replacing the boot.img file.

Can anyone give me some tips?

I am hoping not to have to go as far as doing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1748297 :)

Any help appreciated :)
