[Q] Play Store and Play Services missing topic

Hardware: Samsung Galaxy S2, GT-I1900
History: This device was rooted and running CM11.
Problem: I tried loading CM12 but Google Play Services and Play Store apps were missing after the install. (As part of the install I formatted /system and did a factory reset.)

I've tried reloading CM11 but have the same problem - so I've switch back to CM12.

ROM: CM12-20150211-UNOFFICIAL-i9100 (downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...od-12-t2955551)

gapps: I've tried various gapps packages, including cm12_gapps-lp-20141109-signed.zip

Q: Why are these two apps missing?

When I going into Settings / Accounts there is no option to create a Google account. I presume this is because Play Services is missing. Is this correct?

With regard to gapps: I've tried not loading that zip and installing Play Services from a downloaded APK (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-...-apk-download/). This purports to be version 6.7.76. This gives the following:

I've tried adding the permission com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_G SERVICES to the Play Services package via adb but that permission is not recognised.

Play Store and Play Services has stopped topic

Hi All,

I used Titanium backup and changed "Play store and play services" to user apps. After that I changed back to system app and I cannot use play store.

Unfortunately, play store/play services has stopped.

I tried to remove and install both. I tried to clear cache. But still having same problem.

Can I know how to solve?

I often get an error "Unfortunately, Exchange Services has stopped". I have disabled "Email" app but use "Gmail" app. Is it happening because of this?

Downgrade Google Play Services topic

Yesterday I have installed a new version of Google Play Sevices taken from APK Mirror, but I believe it is causing battery drain.
I would like to go back to the stock version I had on CM11s 05Q but if I go into Apps it won't allow me to uninstall upgrades.

Is there a way to go back?

[Q] Google Services consuming significant portion of battery topic

Lately I feel like my battery life has gotten worse. If I check my battery stats, it shows Google Services consuming a major portion of the battery, typically 25%-35%. I've also found my battery life has gone down to about 25% left after 16 hrs being unplugged and only 1.5hrs of screen time. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

Google Play Services draining my battery since I updated to Lollipop topic

Hi Guys,
since I updated to Lollipop I noticed a dramatic battery use by "Google Play Services". If until know cell standby, or Screen were the main battery drainers, nowadays more than half of my battery is taken by Google Play Services. I am aware there is a "GPS bug" in lollipop and if I reboot my phone with Wi-Fi on I have no problem with Google Play Services, however if I turn off wifi or get out of the house it starts draining my battery again. I don't use smart lock. I don't use GSP (I set it to battery saving mode - even though it's off). I have my wifi always on, I have disabled every feature of Google Now. I only synchronize contacts and Keep on my gmail account. I disabled most of motorola's apps (assist, alert, etc) I disabled google+ and most of the stuff I never use. I only sync an email account (yahoo), use whatsapp, facebook (location off, notifications off, sync off), and the browser. My phone has a locked bootloader and I don't intend to root it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could stop google play services from draining so much of my battery?? (For example my battery is now at 65% and google play services drained 15% from the total of 35%).

Until posting here I did a factory reset, I updated to the latest version of Google Play Services and I used GServiceFix, but nothing worked.
