[Q] Mi2 goes into bootloop when connecting to a pc using usb cable topic

When I attach my phone to laptop with usb cable, my phone reboots and gets stuck in bootloop until I unplug the usb cable...

If anyone has any idea why, please lemme know.

it happens on win7 and 8.1 machines, don't have the resources to test it on other machines but since it reboots almost instantly I think it doesnt matter the machine I connect it to.

[Q] Cannot update to lollipop using FOA topic

First things first, I am not very techy and am only trying to accomplish one goal on my galaxy s5 - update to lollipop.
I'm trying to do it by going to Settings --> About device --> Software Update. Everytime I try it check's for updates and says 'The Latest Updates have already been installed'.
My device is unrooted and running Android 4.4.2 and is unlocked. My brother bought the exact same phone and got the update over FOA more than a month ago!
I can't find anywhere on the internet to help me out, I don't want to update manually.. I wan't to know why my device won't update automatically.
Any thoughts on what I can try? Does it need a factory reset? Has anyone else got this issue? Help much appreciated.

[Q] Pictures not seen using Galery App topic

Greetings,
Recent pictures dragged from my PC (Windows 8.1, 64 bit OS) to my Note Edge cannot not be seen using stock gallery app. I download jpeg, jpg files and folders containing jpeg's and jpg flies to the picture folder on the Device memory and to the picture folder in my SD card. The dragged and dropped files can be seen using the phone's file manager, but can't be seen using the Gallery app. Older pictures initially downloaded to my phone can still be seen using the Gallery app. My unit is running ver 4.4.4... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

[Q] Using fastboot to boot directly into Recovery? topic

Hi, my device (euro 8gb dual sim, 5.0.2 ota updated) got crazy last night with lots of FC and unresponsive behaviour.
It boots into system but even screen is off most of time. I can only access power menu before FCs appear and screen goes off.

I tried to boot into recovery but it is not possible since droid on its backs never appears. (see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto...2#post59096800)

Is there any command to launch recovery menu via fastboot?

Furthermore, since I can access fastboot menu, I saw a "Factory" option near "Recovery" option. What is it for?

Thanks!!

[Q] Connect to TV using Miracast? topic

[Q] Using jdb to debug android app topic

Trying using adb with jdb to debug my very first app on android.

I edit code in vim, compile by "ant debug" and install by "adb install ...".
Then I enable debugging for my app and choose "wait for debugger", then I run app - and it is waiting, so far so good.
Now I have to create forwarding rule, ok, "adb -d forward tcp:8700 jdwp:XXXX" and "jdb -sourcepath src/ -attach localhost:8700".
This "XXXX" is a pid which "adb jdwp" prints while my app is waiting or running. What is the problem here is that "adb jdwp" prints one number (I have just a single app with enabled debug, at all) and it does not exit - so I cannot really script it like:

adb -d forward tcp:8700 jdwp:$(adb jdwp) ; jdb -sourcepath src/ -attach localhost:8700

Any idea why is this happening? Android studio is not running, Eclipse is not installed, Fedora 20, x86_64; Motorola Moto G 1st gen, stock Lollipop firmware. Thanks!

[Q] New ROMs stuck at splash screen using SafeStrap topic

I have an unlocked AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 and have been trying to use SafeStrap to flash new ROMs. Everything goes like normal, ROM looks to be successfully installed. But I have tried to flash three different ROMs that are compatible with SafeStrap and my device, and each of them get stuck in an endless splash screen (I waited more than 20 minutes.) I did not mess with the stock ROM slot, so that is still intact. This is really frustrating, has anyone else encountered this problem? I've already tried factory resets and data wipes on the ROM slot, and also have deleted and re-partitioned the slot twice. As suggested online, I was flashing three zip at once: the ROM, kernel, and superuser.

Bootloop after freezing "Google" using Titanium Backup. topic

So my nexus 5 is now boot looping after freezing some unwanted apps including system "Google". I though I could disable this to remove that annoying 'ok google' tab. How wrong I was and now my important data/information and app are now unobtainable. Is there a way I can maybe get my data back using fastboot mode or maybe re-install the original google apk or something? I only have a backup of my phone but it is 5 months old :/ and i still want my latest data.

[Q] Skip songs using volume buttons on unrooted ROM? topic

Hey everyone. I've got an LG g flex and I accidentally upgraded to the newest version of android, which is 4.4.2 and now I'm not able to root my phone, and I cannot downgrade to an older version to root. I'm wanting to be able to skip music by long pressing the volume buttons. I use Google music, and haven't found an option within the google music app, nor my system settings that allow skipping songs using hardware buttons. Is there a modded apk that supports it? Is there another music app that supports it that can also play my downloaded google music? Is there a way to enable it without root? Thanks in advance.

[Q] can I use a different modem when I flash a stock rom using odin? topic

Can I use a different modem if I want to flash a stock rom using odin?

I want to use xxemc2 stock rom for my s3 howrver because I already upgraded to 4.3 it changed the efs file and I did not make a back up of the original.

Xxemg4 which I have now does not have as good battery life as on xxemc2 and I blame it on the modem as my multipdp wakelocks indicate this.

However Xxemg4 was the last 4.1.2 version available I can doengrade to, am I able to use the stock 4.3 modem and use th xxemg4 for everything else?

Im unsure if you can mix and match stock roms modems without bricking the phone or tripping knox.

Is this allowed or doable on a non rooted s3?

[Q]Timesharing user accounts using xposed framework topic

Guys I am currently working on a university project in Android. The objective is to create a rudimentary timesharing implementation on Android platform. The basic idea is to create multiple user accounts using the Kitkat API and switch them when their alloted timeslice expires.Creating user accounts may not be difficult but I have no clue as to how to switch them.I'm pretty much a noob in Xposed programming ,so any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Can't backup using TWRP 2.7 topic

Hi guys
So a few days ago I decided I wanted to backup so I swiped to backup, but when it came to backing up /data I got a backup failed error.
A post told me that I had to restore defaults in TWRP so I did that.
Now when I try to backup I get this error e: cannot mount storage device
Is it a good idea to safely downgrade to 2.6 and try? If so, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance.

How to activate Call Recording Feature on Galaxy S II Plus (I9105) using CM12 ROM? topic

I have installed CM12 ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S II Plus. Everything is working fine except the call recording feature. Somehow it isn't working. I have tried with apps like "Automatic Call Recorder" and "Boldbeast Recorder" but failed. I have also tried with Xposed Framework but it isn't supported on my architecture. The call recording feature was working perfectly on my stock ROM before flashing. If there's any Mod through which I can make it work then please guide me.

google now using US English voice.... grrrrrr topic

OK so this is really bugging me.
Phone is set to use UK English (nice ladies voice) and offline language pack is installed.
Google now and search are both set to UK English but if I give Google now a command, 'call Joe bloggs mobile' for example, although it phones Joe blogs... it tells me it's doing so in an American accent.
I have cleared cache etc but any advice is greatly appreciated

[Q] Possible of privacy guard using more battery than apps denied by it. topic

Hello everyone. We all know about the built-in privacy guard in CM11S, CM12 or roms based on these for our devices. If you don't know then I would like to mention that it is an app which helps in managing permissions for apps like which app is allowed to wake up or keep awake the device, which app can acess our contacts, etc.
There are a number of threads on xda about an Android OS battery drain issue and the fix for it is denying wake permission for it from privacy guard. I didn't have the Android OS issue and rguarly got around 5hours of SOT but still I did the denying wake permissions thing. It made a small difference and my SOT improved (I know SOT is not a perfect measurement of battery stats but I am just using it for the sake of giving you an idea). I then went forward and denied permissions for most user apps installed on my device as per my requirement (without breaking functionality). Now I have the privacy guard message active for most apps I use and I have seen a fall in my battery life to 5hours SOT per charge and now I have even started getting android OS on the top few in stats. No new apps have been installed during the course of the test.
My question now is that is it possible that the privacy guard now remains active for most apps trying to block it from accessing whatever permissions I have disabled for it and in turn eating up more battery than all these apps combined used to? I am obviously going to do my own tests by resetting privacy guard to default too but I thought of asking fellow XDAians too about what they think about this.
