Should KNOX be 0x1 with 4.4.2 bootloader and custom recovery + custom rom? topic

Hello,

my S4A I9295 was shiped with Android 4.2 in 2013, so it came with a KNOX-free bootloader.

Because of incompatibility issues between some roms and this old 4.2 bootloader, today i installed a official Samsung update package* with odin, to bring my phones bootloader up to date. This update lifted my bootloader to a newer version, which is now compatible to Kitkat 4.4.2 base stock roms.

* 2014 June Germany 4.4.2 / I9295XXUCNE5_I9295DBTCNE1_DBT.zip / I9295XXUCNE5_I9295DBTCNE1_I9295XXUCNE5_HOME.tar.md 5

After i have installed, booted and tested this official Samsung installation, i booted to download mode, flashed PhilZ 6.57.9 custom recovery and flashed a custom rom again.

I assumed, that KNOX status is now 0x1 , but it is still 0x0. :fingers-crossed:

Why is KNOX still 0x0 in download mode? Its nothing i would complain about, but i though custom recovery and a modified (stock) rom will automatically result in KNOX 0x1?

Samsung Knox topic

I just picked up a refurb i317 and have a question obout this Knox rom counter/security thing: Does it matter for a refurb that's out of warranty? Is it just a counter or is it something more nasty?

Lollipop Rooted knox OxO but the root is kinda useless topic

Hi guys so I have recently taken the ota for lollipop after being unable to use mobile odin pro to update to lollipop and keep root. since mobile odin does not flash bootloaders and hidden files the phone simply would not boot and was not going into recovery mode either.

Today I was able to solve this by

first step I odin flashed the ne6 firmware I had to factory reset the phone to get It to boot after downgrading from
then I towelrooted and installed mobile odin pro
next I used mobile odin pro to flash the lollipop firmware but instead of letting the phone reboot after the flash, I set mobile odin pro to reboot into download mode instead.
from there I pc odin flashed the modem/bootloader file or "firmware only file that Artizan made here http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmob...-file-t3036102
the t mobile screen was taking a long time so I factory reset and then it booted fine
now the strange thing is supersu was able to update the binary and grant permission to both root checker and busybox but neither app is acting properly . they both say that they were granted permission but busybox is not installing and root checker just hangs. oh well at least phone info and cpuz recognize that the phone is rooted but so far root apps are not working properly

How to keep knox 0x0 on lollipop custom ? topic

Hello, i have 4.4.2 custom rom installed by Mobile Odin, now i wanna install g00h room lolipop. But the biggest problem that i wanna keep knox 0x0, few people said it possible, by mobile odin. So i should flash that rom with 5.0 modem & bootloader in mobile odin? Or i should first go 4.4.2 to 5.0 and then install that Custom rom? knox 0x0 important :/ Any ideas?

4.4.4 KitKat to 5.0.1 via ODIN tripped Knox topic

Hello folks,

today I flashed official Lollipop 5.0.1 via ODIN in my N910-F and accidently tripped my KNOX Counter. So be careful if you do not want to void your warranty.

My phone is carrier branded DTM (T-Mobile) and had latest OTA firmware 4.4.4 *ANK4 on it. Back when i did buy my device I decided to debrand my phone as soon as Lollipop comes out.

So I did and flashed in one step from KitKat (T-Mobile) to Lollipop (Open). From what I read a assumed it would be no problem because it's a newer build but in some way it tripped my Knox Counter to 0x1 (3).

I did use Odin 3.09 as suggested by sammobile but ended up with an error (Fail) at the end of the flashing procedure. I downloaded Odin 3.10 and reflashed without any problems. This might be also considered as a reason for tripping the counter (as it says 3). I checked my counter after 2 factory resets afterwards.

Now I'm actually good to root I guess. :D Be careful.

Does Knox work on custom ROM topic

Hi,
I am about to flash custom ROM (omega to be exact). Will Knox work? Is there something I need to pay attention too?

[Q] Rooting without warranty voiding ? Possibility of knox counter resetting ? topic

As topic says. I've tried to root my samsung galaxy s3 LTE (GT-i9305) using towelroot with various modstrings and using compiled c source of towelroot (tr_c). But it didn't worked.
So im wondering if it is possible to root my phone and then reset knox counter or to root phone without tripping knox counter.

My phone specs are:
GT-I9305 (Orange branding)
Android 4.4.4
Modem version: I9305XXUFNJ1 (or is that baseband?)
Kernel: 3.0.31-2918012
dpi@SWDD6006 #1

Version number: KTU84P.I9305XXUFNJ1

Would appreciate any help.

[Q] Root and Knox on i9506 ks01lte topic

I just got a brand new i9506 ks01lte today and previously I was playing with a pre-knox 9505 from work but I'm not sure what knox is about and which root method I should use.

The phone has 4.4.2 out of the box but I'm not going to use it unless I am running CM11, CM12 or similar.

There was a rooting guide which mentioned kit kat in the title but the thread was closed so I couldn't ask if the information in the first post was still relevant to my phone.

I don't care about voiding warranty obviously, just unsure about what kind of difference knox makes and if there is a procedure that will work on my 4.4.2 9506.

The one thing I don't want to do is brick the phone.

Thanks

Vic

[Q] Tmobile Galaxy S5 root without triggering knox, warranty, lollipop questions topic

Going to cut it as short as I can, and I'll probably sound like a noob and annoying at the same time. Can I root my Galaxy S5 T-Mobile 4.4.2 G900TUVU1CNK2 without triggering knox? I don't want to touch anything (no rom or loader or anything) - I just want it to be rooted so I have some access.

If that can't be done, can I root and yet still send back to T-Mobile as a warranty replacement without them charging me?

If I were to root, can I still use the OTA upgrade from Lollipop once it comes out or does it have to be done a different way?

Silly Question, How do I root the T-Mobile Note 4 without Tripping Knox? topic

Silly Question, How do I root the T-Mobile Note 4 without Tripping Knox? I plan to stick with the stock ROM compiled by T-Mobile. Just want Root Access for the obvious versatility. Thanks
