[Q] Recover Phone Only Sideload Available topic

I have brought this up in a couple other threads but it was suggested I start a separate question. It's a good suggestion especially because doing so may help others in the future. Here's the situation. I have a VS980 that HAD TWRP and CrDroid. In the process of trying to flash another ROM, something went haywire. When I use Vol Down/Power to get to Recovery I get the Factory Data Reset screen which unfortunately says "ROOTED" at the top. Pushing power twice which would ordinarily get me to TWRP instead gets me to a LG Logo/Reset endless loop. The button combination which would usually get me to download mode gets me the same loop. However, if I continue to hold down Vol Up, I get Android System Recovery <3e> from which I CAN get the phone into sideload mode. Sideload is thus the only connectivity I have to the phone. Ordinarily I would think I could just sideload a ROM but when I try this, I get:

assert failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
E: Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Likewise I tried a bumped recovery, but this time it errored with /tmp/panelfix.sh.

Yes, sideload appears to be the only choice I have but I also confess I am not entirely clear on what bumping is exactly and how to do it.

Absent reviving this phone, I am stuck returning it to Verizon for a warranty replacement but this presents a problem since the factory data reset screen clearly says rooted. One thought that came to mind is if I got the official OTA zip that gets downloaded during OTA updates, I might not be able to sideload that and whether or not doing so is advisable. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Although I prefer being able to use Windows on my PC, I do have access to an Ubuntu VM I can run if that factors in at all.

Thanks in advance...

Adb Sideload topic

Hello all,
I made a big mistake and wiped my Sd card on my rooted, Unlocked M7. I was able to get recovery(TWRP) back on but for the life of me cannot sideload a Rom on it? At the moment it has no OS. So that means I cannot open usb debugging so I could manually place the ViperOne rom back on the SD. I've never sideloaded anything but after watching many youtube videos and failing ( cannot read ROM.zip) its driving me nuts. Is there maybe an easier way? Maybe something else I can try?
I have tried to load for both desktop and platform tools( both I can see my device).

Adb sideload problem error, please help! Serious topic

Hello, so here we go with my problem when I try to install something through the adb sideload I get an error (I can upload the error log later but cant now, it said installation aborted). Well I tried to install The soak Android L for my device everything was right I Even double checked (Im not a newbie) everything was installed through adb sideload with my PC and I was succesful but when I tried to flahs through twrp The superSu with The xposed's zip at The same time The phone just stoped working and I wasnt Even able to use it it was stuck at The boot logo but I had a backup and after try many times I finally reach The bootloader and flashes The backup I had (I even weap every data and cache). And now when I try to install it again I just cant dont know why, please help me...

Anyways my doubt is that before I install I saw on the adb sideload screen a word which says " qe 0/1 " and after I install it and after all this process I said here above when I try again I see now it says " qe 1/1 " does it have anything to do with my problem? How can I reset/restore this to 0/1 again? Any solution, please explain and I'd be greatful.

Thanks

[Q] How to sideload kernel with USB Debugging enabled? topic

Hi all,
I greatly need your help or some advice. I searched for more than 6h yesterday and Im surprised I couldnt find a solution to my problem.

Typical stuff : I broke the screen of my Nexus 4, that is completely stock 5.0.1. The phone is unrooted, bootloader is locked and obviously USB Debugging is disabled.

I need to backup some data from my phone : pictures, notes and if possible my contacts.

When I connect my phone via USB to my PC, I cant browse my files since my screen is locked. My screen is not responding at all, so no way I can unlock it. Only thing I can do is install new applications on my phone, but no way to launch them since I'd need to unlock my screen again.

I have installed adb and fastboot in order to try and use Android Screen Control, but I dont have USB Debugging enabled.
So I read that I could sideload a kernel that has USB Debugging enabled by default.

I got into Recovery Mode, and tried sideloading a zip file containing a Kernel found on the forum, but I always get an error saying the footer is wrong and the signature of the file didnt pass verification. I guess I can only sideload OTA updates ?
I tried fastbooting CWM recovery, that also didnt work.

adb devices command lists my 'recovery' device.

At this stage, all I need is to either be able to unlock my phone so I can access my files via USB (i tried few apps without success), or to enable USB debugging so I can connection using sideload, use Android Screen Control, reset the pattern lock, and backup my phone.

Also, USB OTG isnt enabled by default on Nexus 4, so that's another dead-end

So what are my options ? Where could I find a kernel that has USB Debug enabled, and how can I sideload it considering phone is not rooted, and bootloader is locked (unlocking it and whipping data defies the purpose).

THANK YOU for any advice!
