[Q] Is it possible to remove "Activation" dialog at startup? topic

I am using the device ONLY as a gaming device and have no plans to activate it through Verizon, however, everytime I turn it on, it asks me to activate on the network. I can simply close this and avoid it, but I would prefer to remove this entirely if possible. I tried to root the phone but no matter what rooting tool I use, it fails. Every time.

Can I please get some help? I am more of a Windows Phone person so I don't know much about Android rooting and modding.

Popup Dialog? topic

Tried searching various topics, but I'm probably not using the right wordage here... Basically, I'm looking for either a Nexus ROM, app, or replacement messenger that utilizes popup dialogs (ie. I receive a text, a popup box appears on the screen with an option to mark as read, reply or close/delete). I've tried a few 3rd party apps from the Play Store and they've been buggy, but I'd rather use something that's included in a ROM or a flashable replacement messenger.
