Testing result of Roms for SPH-L720T (updated Feb. 24, 2015) topic

There are several similar threads (this one and this one) but unfortunately it seems either OP stopped updating, or it's not focused on ROM list. On the other hand, I just start to use this phone, therefore I come up with this list of working-non working ROMs in hope to share with other L720T users. Among the results, some are based on my first hand test with my phone(NG5 modem with TWRP 2.8.4.0, 2.8.5.0 seems not working on me), others are based on posts by fellow xdaers.

You are welcome to pm me for new info or corrections. I will try my best to keep this post updated as long as I still own this phone.

Please note, working-non working status or issues should be modem specific. Therefore results from my phone only speak for NG5.

1) ROMs working well:
1.1) Stock NG5, OA3: :)
1.2) [UNOFFICIAL][5.0.2][CM-12.0] CyanogenMod 12 for jfltespr (2015-01-26 / FINAL: Working
1.3) [LXR22G][5.0.2] Team OctOs Oct-L: Working
1.4) [OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod Nightly Builds for jfltespr
Followings are reported working by others in this thread:
1.5) C-Rom 7.1 (#78): some issues where it says digital roaming sometimes. It didn't seem to be as good a connection for LTE as stock rom and it dropped to 3G more often.
1.6) SuperS4 (#80): the newest SuperS4 does have the spark icon.
1.7) BeanStalk ROM (4.4.4): It's completely stable and has just about every possible customization baked right into the ROM including xposed installer.
1.8) SlimKat ROM (4.4.4): keeps the ROM stock, only customize a little, always a rock solid ROM with exceptional support and almost perfect code.
1.9) PacMan ROM (4.4.4):
1.10) Mahdi ROM (says digital roaming instead of Sprint but works perfectly)

2) Roms Not working so well:
2.1) Sacs_Custom_Rom_V3_NG2_9_24_14 : Wifi not working. ktoonez kernel fixes WiFi but with lag. The issue might be modem specific.
2.2) [ROM] [ jfltespr ][ Feb 10 ] AICP - 8.0 - LP 5.0.2_r1 | OFFICIAL NIGHTLIES: Phone runs warm / battery drain
2.3) 【5.0.1】Google Play Edition 【JFLTE-GPE】, 2-23-2015 build: Phone runs warm / battery drain
(Below are reported by others)
2.4) Triforce + ktoonez kernel to get the WiFi working: FC from time to time though.

Personally I like to have traffic meter on the status bar. Unfortunately, none of those working ROMs that I know of has it so far, and ROMs (2.2, 2.3) with traffic meter have warm issue on my phone.

Updated Sprint M8 Lollipop LTE Tether Hack Help topic

Hi, Looking for help to update the M8 tether hack to work with lollipop on Sprint stock rooted ROM.

I was able to update the default.xml file ( sprint stock lollipop based) in the attached zip which enabled the hotspot and works great with 3g. The init.d tether script used to get LTE working in the zip worked great on kitkat when set correctly using SManager but it doesn't seem to work on lollipop as everyone is aware. I am not experienced enough to edit the tether script which I suspect is the issue with LTE and was hoping someone else here was. It's below and also attached in the zip file under system/etc/init.d which I am sure you know already. Of course it might be something much harder than a simple update of a script or it probably would have been done already....

(I can't attach the zip I was referring to since I haven't posted 10 posts yet but it's here)

[Q] updated to 5.0 ROM, lost root topic

Hi everybody!

I recently updatet my formerly rootet G2 (D802) to Android 5.0 (OmniROM). My Problem is that I somehow lost root and I'm wondering how I can restore root on the phone with 5.0 installed.

I didn't find any links/howtos or tips to do so under 5.0 so is anyone here who can give me a little piece of advice?

Thanks!

[Q] Will CyanogenMod 11 work/install after Nook HD updated to version 2.2.1? topic

Will CyanogenMod 11 work/install after Nook HD version 2.2.1 update? Because I know that it works with the Nook HD's version 2.2.0...Barnes and Noble released an update in late January. I want to install CyanogenMod 11 (SNAPSHOT M12) but was wondering if it will still work since Barnes and Noble released an update to a "major critical security patch", and wonder if it would affect/hinder the use of CyanogenMod files or root and if it will affect the installation... thanks!

[KERNEL][ALPHA][LINARO] OK Kernel v1 for stock roms updated 14.02.2015 topic

Hello guys,

I recently began kernel development. For the first thing I'd like to credit @YoshiShaPow it wouldn't be possible without you man! Thanks a ton for your help with this! :D

Working:
Everything
This kernel is built of stock sony sources with LINARO so it's already buttery smooth compared to stock sony kernel

Not working:
Maybe WiFi

I'll fix it with a flashable zip later on, it might work, it might not work. I don't know. I propably broke it by flashing some stuff on my phone before. You tell me if it works or not so I could fix it if it doesn't work!

I'll propably update this kernel really often because as soon as I get some time I quit gaming and work on the kernel instead. It's much more enjoyable for me (and no, I don't suck at gaming, PM me if you want to play BO2 one on one or in a team against others)

Features: (this list will expand like hell really soon
added interactive governor
Linaro toolchain optimizations

WIP: (whatever comes to my mind that I'll be working on will be put here
enabled KSM (I might have added it already, I'm not sure ^^ )
enabled CPU Hotplug - massive improvement on power saving - choose hot pluggable governor such as hotplugx or pegasusq to use it.

Download in attachments only for v1, for new versions I'll propably use dev-host

Google Play Services draining my battery since I updated to Lollipop topic

Hi Guys,
since I updated to Lollipop I noticed a dramatic battery use by "Google Play Services". If until know cell standby, or Screen were the main battery drainers, nowadays more than half of my battery is taken by Google Play Services. I am aware there is a "GPS bug" in lollipop and if I reboot my phone with Wi-Fi on I have no problem with Google Play Services, however if I turn off wifi or get out of the house it starts draining my battery again. I don't use smart lock. I don't use GSP (I set it to battery saving mode - even though it's off). I have my wifi always on, I have disabled every feature of Google Now. I only synchronize contacts and Keep on my gmail account. I disabled most of motorola's apps (assist, alert, etc) I disabled google+ and most of the stuff I never use. I only sync an email account (yahoo), use whatsapp, facebook (location off, notifications off, sync off), and the browser. My phone has a locked bootloader and I don't intend to root it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could stop google play services from draining so much of my battery?? (For example my battery is now at 65% and google play services drained 15% from the total of 35%).

Until posting here I did a factory reset, I updated to the latest version of Google Play Services and I used GServiceFix, but nothing worked.
