[Q] Why should I root? topic

Hi guys, I got a G Watch R for Xmas, and I love it so far.
I saw a root tutorial among these topics, so my question is: Does it even make sense to root a smartwatch?
What can you do with a rooted GWR, wht you can't do with a non-rooted one?
And do any of you know if root apps/custom ROMs/recoveries will be available for Wear devices? (I'm kinda sure they will, so the question is rather "when" :D)
