I have a dev ed with a plastic back that is not peeling, but rather there is an air pocket under the back where the adhesive didn't stick or was not applied properly. When I hold the device in my hand, the pressure from my hand causes this clicking/creaking sound/sensation that is very annoying to me.
The seam of the molded plastic is holding as best I can tell and no peeling like has happened with some of the wood backs. I haven't used this phone except to activate it as I got it to be a b/u device when I cancelled my Asurion insurance. It is still in warranty. I don't want to try for a warranty replacement for 2 reasons:
1) I have read that Motorola doesn't have any more Dev Eds to send as replacements and is replacing these with Moto X 2014 (which I already have and am getting rid of b/c it can't be rooted); and
2) Even if I am wrong about #1, I am hesitant to risk getting one with a bad screen since this one's screen is pretty good.
I tried heating up some rice in a cloth bag and applying it to the back of the device to soften the adhesive under the theory that this may cause it to "restick" but that didn't work.
Does anyone have any suggestions here? Is there nothing that can be done other than throw a case on it? I have a bumper on it and I really like that but the bumper doesn't help the air bubble problem. I really didn't want to case the phone b/c I like the feel of the device in my hand uncased.
