I hate being a noob to a website, it took me like 30 minutes just to try and figure out how to make a thread. I hope a thread wasn't already made about this but I just wanted to share my story. I made this account to share a successful Amazon experience regarding downgrading the Fire OS 4.5.2.
I first wanted to root my Kindle a couple of days ago when I found out that I needed root permissions for this app to work. I spent countless hours trying to figure out how to root my Kindle Fire HD 7" with OS 4.5.2. This went on for a while until I had found a one click rooter that seemed like the solution at the time. The problem was that I noticed that it was failing so I contacted the support and they told me that the recent update made it impossible for their software to work. Disappointed, I searched the Internet some more and came across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/kind...o-3-2-t2956953. I now became interested in downgrading the system on my Kindle so it could soon become rootable. To be honest with you, I thought the new update seemed excellent at first with all the new fixes I received in the note delivered to my Kindle. The look was fantastic but the OS really limited me in what I could do. A lot of the third party apps I once used became impossible to use. I experienced a lot of crashing and sometimes they wouldn't even open at all.
I was a bit reluctant to contacting them after reading bad customer support experiences and I kind of pushed it off to the side. Last night, I decided to email them and this is what I got back:

So, I went into the Customer Service chat and my first conversation was with a guy named Arnold. All he really did was ask for the history of my problems and then sent me to someone who specialized in the area. That was when I spoke to John. John made me perform a factory restart on my Kindle. After I asked him a question about third party apps he sent me to Pavithra; our conversation only lasted like 2 minutes I didn't even get to ask her my question. But I'm glad I did ask John about it because I would have never talked to Prathap; my lifesaver:
09:03 AM PST Kelena H.: Hi, Prathap. I had a question for Pavithra but she sent me to you before I could ask. But do you think you could possibly roll back my OS?
09:04 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): I'm sorry you got transferred. Let me check about the update roll back.
09:04 AM PST Kelena H.: Okay, thank you.
09:07 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Thanks for waiting.
09:09 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): I checked and saw that currently we don't have option roll back the software version. But I can see your concern that you're looking for the third party Apps to be supported in your Kindle device. I'll take this as a feedback and forward it to the appropriate department for consideration. The Kindle Team will carefully review your suggestions.
09:11 AM PST Kelena H.: Yes. Ever since the update, they do not work properly and they freeze a lot and randomly close. I just experience freezing with my Kindle and I downloaded a third party app of Youtube and it's not even opening.
09:12 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): I'm sorry to hear that. Let's try a factory reset of your tablet, which can solve the freezing experience with your Kindle.
09:13 AM PST Kelena H.: I've already done one with John, one of the guys I spoke to before you.
09:14 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Okay. If you'd prefer, we'll look into replacing the Kindle.
09:15 AM PST Kelena H.: No thank you, Prathap. That's nice and all but I just want a rollback on my software. There's people who've experienced the same issues as me and they were able to get a rollback done. There's this guy who got his rolled back a week ago.
09:17 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): I'm sorry, Kelena. At this time, we're working on it. I've let the Kindle team know about the roll back option. If the Kindle device is in v4.5.1 means, the OS can be roll back. But your device is v4.5.2, at this time the OS don't have the feature of roll back.
09:19 AM PST Kelena H.: Okay, I understand that. But some of the people on the forums had the same version as me and they were able to roll it back.
09:20 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Okay. We'll try to push back the update on your Kindle. Is your device connected to WiFi?
09:21 AM PST Kelena H.: Thank you so much. And yes it is
09:21 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): You're welcome! Is the device's battery 40% or more?
09:22 AM PST Kelena H.: Yes, it is :)
09:22 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Thank you. Please be connected while the system push the software update to previous version.
09:23 AM PST Kelena H.: Okay, thank you.
09:24 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Thanks for waiting.
09:24 AM PST Kelena H.: Anytime.
09:24 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): The device has been rolled back successfully.
09:25 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Please sync your device once to check this out.
09:25 AM PST Kelena H.: Omgg. Thank you so much, Prathap!! I see it downloading right now.
09:26 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): That's great to hear! Please go on with the notification once it has downloaded. I'll wait here.
09:27 AM PST Kelena H.: Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it.
09:27 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Have you got it? Please let me know once you update it successfully. :)
09:30 AM PST Kelena H.: It says that it's at 100% right now. I click the sync button, right?
09:30 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Yes, you're right.
09:31 AM PST Kelena H.: Okay, my kindle has now restarted :)
09:31 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Okay. I'm glad to hear to hear that.
09:32 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Check the OS version once it comes up.
09:32 AM PST Kelena H.: Okay, I will.
09:33 AM PST Kelena H.: Sorry it's taking a little while. It restarted again after installing. It should pop up any moment by now.
09:34 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): No need to be sorry, Kelena. I'm glad to wait for you.
09:36 AM PST Kelena H.: Omggg. Thank you so much. I can not thank you enough. You have made my day
09:37 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): My pleasure! Please ignore the email which I've sent you recently.
09:38 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Yes, I can see that from my end. Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
09:39 AM PST Kelena H.: No, that was it. Thanks so much for your time, help and patience. You are a true lifesaver. I just wanna know why everyone I spoke to before you told me that it's not possible to downgrade my OS.
09:40 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): I'm sorry, even I've also told that to you. Since it's try. I'll help our customers in future in this matter. Thanks for standing with me.
09:41 AM PST Kelena H.: Anytime, it was worth the wait.
09:41 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Yes, always :) We look forward to seeing you again soon. When you're ready, please click the end chat link. Have a great day! :)
09:41 AM PST Kelena H.: You too, Prathap. Take it easy :)
09:41 AM PST Prathap(Amazon): Thank you so much! :)
I am so happy that I didn't give up after the second person I spoke to. Prathap is really a life saver and he taught me that it is possible to downgrade your OS 4.5.2. I guess it wasn't really done that much before so that's why everyone thought that it wasn't possible. I would also like to thank the people in the above thread that helped me. Now I can finally root my kindle. This thread was created so I could share my experience with Amazon support and to tell people that it is POSSIBLE to downgrade your OS 4.5.2 to one of its earliest systems. Please share your experiences and if you have questions, feel free to post away Don't get discouraged after the first several chats you have, because patience is key. :highfive: :D
